With new data in their hands, the Police responded today to the General Director of the Ministry of the Interior, Elikos Elias, in his letter in relation to the offenses being investigated against the Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phedonos.
The letter of the Chief of Police left a while ago for the Ministry of the Interior, informing the minister in detail about the offenses being examined.
This was confirmed by the Director General of the Ministry, Elikkos Ilias, speaking to television stations, a fact that is now expected to set in motion a domino effect of developments around the much-publicized, as it is developing, case.
The Police's response came a day after a woman had come to the investigative authorities and gave a multi-page testimony in which she allegedly refers to a case of a sexual nature that seems to have happened 10 years ago.
The Paphos businessman Theodoros Aristodemou had also referred to this case a day earlier, who had stated that he had given some names that may help in the investigation. It is recalled that the Police are also investigating the case brought to light by Annie Alexui, which also concerns alleged violence against his wife. The latter has denied this and even asked in a letter to end the investigation into Mr. Phedonos.
With the new data that it is now clear which cases are being investigated, it is expected that the Minister of the Interior may even proceed to immediately suspend the mayor of Paphos without having to apply for an opinion to the Legal Service.
