The Cyprus Police participates in the European Week of Information and Policing with Roadside Checks for Truck and Bus Driving, organized by the European Traffic Police Network – Roadpol, as a member of the European Police Network. The week of actions, which started on Monday, February 09 and will end on Sunday, February 15, 2026, will be held at a pan-European level, by the member countries of the European Traffic Police Network.
At the heart of Roadpol's specially dedicated weekly action will be to inform about the current legislation and the risks caused by non-compliance with it, as well as the intensification of traffic checks of violations committed by truck and bus drivers.
The validity of drivers' and vehicles' documents, speed limitation devices and tachographs, the observance of driving and working hours by professional drivers, and the technical and mechanical suitability of trucks and buses, will be benchmarks for traffic controls, as will the offences that have been proven to be the main factors in causing serious and fatal road collisions, as is the violation of the speed limit.
The Police is intensifying traffic controls on the road network, to deal with traffic violations, while once again calling on professional drivers to comply with the legislation and traffic regulations.
