A fierce attack against MEP Geadis Geadis was launched by the Women's Movement POGO, on the occasion of his statements in the European Parliament on women's right to abortion.
As the Movement states in its announcement, "in the last plenary session of the European Parliament, the MEP of the fascist ELAM, Geadis Geadis, together with his like-minded colleagues, attempted to attack the right of women to abortion. With a rhetoric full of conservatism and obsessions and terms that reveal ignorance of even the most basic things, he appeared in an imperative style to decide about the lives and bodies of women."
He also adds that "the same people who today talk about the 'protection of life' are silent about poverty, gender-based violence, the lack of support structures, working mothers without rights. They don't care about the lives of women and children! They are interested in control and submission."
The announcement is as follows
In the last plenary session of the European Parliament, the MEP of the fascist ELAM, Geadis Geadis, together with like-minded colleagues, attempted to attack women's right to abortion. With a rhetoric full of conservatism and obsessions and terms that reveal ignorance of even the most basic things, he appeared in an imperative style to decide on the lives and bodies of women.
The attack on the right to abortion is not isolated. It's part of a broader agenda that wants women back home, silent, dependent, and voiceless.
The same people who today talk about "protecting life" are silent about poverty, gender-based violence, the lack of support structures, working mothers without rights. They don't care about the lives of women and children! They are interested in control and submission.
We say clearly: the right to abortion is non-negotiable and has been won through decades of struggle. We will not allow anyone to take us back to the Middle Ages they dream of.
Our bodies are not a field of political exploitation nor a place for ideological experiments of the far right. Women don't ask for permission. They claim and will defend their rights.
