Prices for sunbeds and umbrellas on the beaches of Ayia Napa are increasing.
The mayor of Ayia Napa and president of the Beaches Committee, Christos Zanettos, was hosted on ANT1, where he stated that the price of the sunbed now amounts to €3.50, while the umbrella costs €3.00.
As he noted, the fees have remained unchanged for the last 20 years. "These increases are not a deterrent. I want to make it clear that these are the maximum prices that a local authority can charge," he said.
He added that each municipality has the ability to set a different price, explaining that "one municipality can rent the sunbed for €2.50 and another for €3.50. Each municipality can assess the situation and adjust the prices."
Finally, he noted that the issue will be examined by the Ayia Napa municipal council. "My recommendation will be at €3.50. In the last three years we have returned to our beaches more than two million euros."
