The major projects and important pending issues in the province of Paphos were the subject of today's visit of the competent Minister of Transport, Communications and Works to Paphos. Alexis Vafeadis attended a broad meeting at the offices of the local NLG, during which these projects will be discussed, in the presence of Mayors and representatives of Local Government authorities, representatives of economic, commercial and social bodies.
The meeting specifically examined the developments on the major issue of the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous highway in terms of Phase A and the developments and progress in relation to the decisions of the Tender Review Authority, the issue of Phase B of the same project, which concerns the section from Stroumbi to Polis Chrysochous, the project of the extension of Tombs of the Kings Avenue and the coastal avenue Chlorakas - Lemba - Kissonerga, as well as the pending issue regarding the Western bypass road of Paphos.
The completion of the construction of the access road to Paphos Airport, by the river of Ezousa, from the tourist area, the works for the protection and improvement of the Southwest coasts of the Municipalities of Paphos and Geroskipou and the bridge connecting the Mesogi Industrial Area with the Tremithousa Industrial Zone were also analyzed.
Speaking during the meeting, Alexis Vafeadis assured that the major infrastructure and development projects in the province of Paphos are proceeding normally. We are reaching the point where the studies and the tender projects are being completed and we will soon have to see real projects on the ground, he said characteristically.
The competent minister referred in particular to the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous highway, which was still today the number one issue of the provincial authorities. He reiterated that there are no more reversals or setbacks.
Regarding the access road to Paphos Airport and asked whether the environmental issues that arose have been overcome, Mr. Vafeadis said that the issue will be examined, given that the project is of great interest to the state, but also the environment must be protected.
