MAJOR ROAD WORKS


Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway


On the Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway, in sections in both directions, from Tuesday 24/02/2026 until Friday 06/03/2026, from 07:00 to 16:00, excluding weekends, thermoplastic paint application works will be carried out on the existing asphalt on the following sections of the motorway:

Paralimni-Larnaca Motorway, in the direction from Paralimni to Larnaca, from the Liopetriou exit leading to Agia Thekla Avenue in the Municipal District of Liopetriou, up to 200 m. after the Xylofagou exit leading to Michalaki Vrachimi Street in Xylofagou, with a total length of 2.1 km., where one lane will remain closed sequentially from 02/03/2026 to 03/03/2026 and traffic will be diverted through the other lane.

Paralimni-Larnaca Motorway, heading from Paralimni to Larnaca, from a point 600 m. before the Xylotymvos exit, which leads to the E343 road in Xylotymvos, up to 200 m. after the Xylotymvos exit, with a total length of 0.8 km., one lane will remain closed sequentially from 04/03/2026 to 06/03/2026 and traffic will be diverted through the other lane.

During the period 2/3/2026 – 13/3/2026, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 the next morning, weekdays except Fridays and weekends, on sections of the Larnaca Airport – Paralimni motorway, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the execution of the works, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island, from the “Airport” roundabout to the “Rizoelias” roundabout, will be closed sequentially for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at five different points.

During the period 2/3/2026 – 30/4/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and watering of plants will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca Airport – Paralimni motorway in Larnaca district in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected.

On Monday 2/3/2026, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the following day, periodic maintenance works of the road surface will be carried out on a section of the Paralimni - Larnaca Airport motorway, in the direction of Larnaca Airport, from the exit to Livadia to the exit to Aradippou. During the execution of the works, in the above section both traffic lanes in the direction of the Paralimni - Larnaca Airport motorway will be closed in sections for a distance of approximately 3 km. and traffic will be diverted throughout to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic with the use of appropriate signage.

On Tuesday 3/3/2026, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the following day, periodic maintenance work will be carried out on the Aradippou exit located on the Larnaca Airport - Paralimni motorway in the direction of Paralimni, between the Kalo Chorio and Rizoelia roundabouts. During the execution of the works in the above section, the Aradippou exit will be closed and traffic towards Aradippou will be channeled through the Rizoelia roundabout using appropriate signage.


Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway


On the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, during the period 16/02/2026-13/03/2026, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and holidays, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island will be closed simultaneously in both directions, at five different points, from the “Kalo Chorio” roundabout to Kofinou, successively for a length of 100 meters each time.


Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway


On Friday 27/2/2026, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, on the Larnaca – Nicosia Motorway, inside the Rizoelia roundabout, safety barrier maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, the inner traffic lane of the roundabout will be closed and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane.


Limassol-Nicosia Motorway


On sections of the motorway in both directions, during the period 26/02/2026-27/03//2026, excluding weekends, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, rut cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the motorway will be closed, in sections of approximately 200m in length, in one direction only.

From Monday 2/3/2026 until Thursday 5/3/2026, from 20:00 in the evening until At 05:30 the next morning, work will be carried out to replace safety barriers on sections of the Limassol - Nicosia and Limassol - Paphos Motorway, from the Skarinou exit to the Petra tou Romiou exit in both directions. During the execution of the works, one lane of the motorway will be closed in sections over a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

On Sunday 1/3/2026, between the hours of 06:00 in the morning and 10:00 in the morning, local asphalt pavement repair works will be carried out on the Limassol - Nicosia (A1) motorway. During the execution of the works, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections over a length of 200m at any time. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.


Nicosia Perimeter Motorway


From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out through Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.


Limassol Bypass


On sections of the bypass in both directions, during the period 26/02/2026-06/03/2026, excluding weekends, between the hours of 07:00-16:00, grass cutting, collection and transportation works as well as collection and transportation of other waste will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the Motorway / Bypass will be closed, in sections of approximately 200m in length in one direction only.

On sections of the bypass in both directions, during the period 26/02/2026-06/03/2026, excluding weekends, between the hours of 07:00-16:00, sweeping works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the Motorway / Bypass Road will be closed, in sections of approximately 200m in length, in one direction only.

On the weekend of 28/2/2026 – 1/3/2026, between the hours of 08:00 – 16:00, sweeping works will be carried out on sections of the Limassol Bypass Road in both directions. During the works, the express lane of the Motorway / Bypass Road will be closed in sections of approximately 200m in length in one direction only, at all times, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane, with the mobile construction site system.


Limassol-Paphos Motorway


On sections of the motorway, during the period 26/02/2026-11/03//2026 excluding weekends, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, pothole cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the emergency lane of the motorway will be closed in sections, approximately 200m long, in one direction only.



Nicosia District


In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.

In Strovolos, from Monday, March 02, 2026 at 12:00 noon, as part of the construction works for the Improvement / Construction Project of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and part of Tseriou Avenue, Ippokratous Avenue will be opened to traffic along its entire length in four lanes, from its junction with Melinas Mercouri Street in the west to its junction with Tseriou Avenue (new roundabout) in the east. The photo-controlled intersection of Karavostasiou and Nikaias Streets will be put into operation in its final configuration. Ippokratous Avenue will continue to be part of the construction site with the contractor's personnel and machinery moving and carrying out work on it until the completion of the project.



Larnaca District


On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, within the framework of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", from Friday 19/12/2025 and for a period of four months, the works of the 5th and final phase of the Project will be carried out, on the section of the road from the height of the Organized Oroklini Beach (Kiosk) to the junction to Pyla. During the works, this section of the road will be closed to traffic in both directions and traffic will be diverted via Galaxia, Salaminos, Selinis and Oceanias streets, in Oroklini and Ithakis street, in Pyla. Appropriate arrangements will be made for residents and businesses in the area to access their premises.

In Larnaca, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, from 02/02/2026 until 15/03/2026, construction works of sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, cycle paths and flowerbeds will be carried out on the Northern Service Road of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue near the Larnaca Port Roundabout. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 200m in length from the junction of the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue with Atalantis Street to the junction with Dimosthenous Street. During the works, the northern service road will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to secondary roads using appropriate signage. For easy access for residents and to facilitate traffic, the following necessary temporary traffic regulations will be implemented using appropriate and approved road markings:

· Removal of the one-way section of the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou from its junction with Atalantis Street and its conversion into a dead end

· Reversal of the one-way section of the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou from its junction with Galinis Street and its conversion into a dead end

· Reversal of the one-way section of Galinis Street from its junction with Demosthenous Street to the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou with a permitted route towards the service road of Spyros Kyprianou

Also within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Plan Mobility (SVAK) of Larnaca - Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, from 13/02/2026 until 27/03/2026, works will be carried out on Fotis Kontoglou Street, which is parallel to Spyros Kyprianou Avenue. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 40m. from the intersection of Fotis Kontoglou Street with Themidos Street. During the works, part of Fotis Kontoglou Street will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to side roads with the use of appropriate signage. For the smooth passage of traffic, the one-way section of Electra Street will be removed from its junction with Fotis Kontoglou Street to the northern service road of Spyrou Kyprianou, where it will become a dead end.

As part of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 18/2/2026 – 31/3/2026, sidewalk reconstruction works will be carried out on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 70 meters in length, on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, from the height of Kozanis Street to the height of Petrou Mavromichali Street. The left lane on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue will remain closed and traffic will be diverted to the right lane using appropriate road markings. Also, part of Petrou Mavromichali Street will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to side streets using appropriate markings.

As part of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 26/02/2026-24/04/2026, construction works will be carried out on a light-controlled pedestrian crossing on Makariou Avenue in Larnaca. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 40 meters on Makariou Avenue, from the Larnaca Port Roundabout to Theodorou Kolokotroni Street. The left lane on Makariou Avenue, heading towards Larnaca, will remain closed and traffic will be diverted to the right lane using appropriate road markings. In order to ensure smooth traffic flow, the one-way section of Th. Kolokotroni Street from Makariou C’ Avenue to its junction with G. Drosini Street will be removed and converted into a dead end and Georgiou Drosini Street will be made a one-way street with a permitted route from Th. Kolokotroni Street to Meli Nikolaidi Street.


Paphos District


In the Municipality of Paphos, as part of the Project for the improvement of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue, in the areas of the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia (Konia), a section of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue will be closed in the area of ​​the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia, as well as in Konia, from Thursday, January 29, 2026 and for a period of approximately three months. A section of the on-ramp of the Avenue (along its northern side) will remain closed, from the confluence intersection with Achepans Street to the intersection of the avenue with Thasou Street (Konia). The two above-mentioned lanes will operate, Thasou Street normally, while Achepans Street partially, since traffic will be carried out without hindrance in the uphill lane, while in the downhill lane, from the height of the intersection of the road with Vasilikon Street and up to the intersection with the avenue under improvement, ONLY ambulances will be allowed to use it. The ascent towards Konia and the wider area will be done ONLY from the highway exit for Konia. The works will start at 06.00 am on Thursday 29/01/2026 and will be completed in approximately three months from the start date.
