MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway
On Tuesday 24/02/2026, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the following day, periodic maintenance works will be carried out on the road surface at the entrance that starts from the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway and ends at the Kalo Chorio roundabout. During the works, in the above section, the entrance to the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway that ends at the Kalo Chorio roundabout will be closed and traffic will be diverted through the Rizoelia roundabout where the return to the Kalo Chorio roundabout will take place with the use of appropriate signage.
On Wednesday 25/02/2026, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the following day, periodic road maintenance works will be carried out at the exit of the Kalo Chori roundabout towards the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway towards Paralimni. During the works, in the above section, the exit of the Kalo Chori roundabout towards the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway will be closed and traffic will be diverted through the Larnaca Airport roundabout where the connection to the motorway towards Nicosia will also be made using appropriate signage.
On the section of the motorway from the exit to Livadia to the exit to Aradippou, in the direction of Larnaca Airport, on Thursday 26/02/2026, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, in the above section, both lanes of traffic in the direction of the Paralimni-Larnaca Airport motorway will be closed in sections for a distance of approximately 3 km. and traffic will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic with the use of appropriate signage.
On the section of the motorway opposite the Aradippou Industrial Area exit, heading towards Dhekelia and Paralimni, on Thursday 26/02/2026 between the hours of 08:30–15:00, cleaning works of the stormwater network will be carried out. During the works, the Aradippou Industrial Area exit heading from Larnaca Airport to Dhekelia and Paralimni will remain closed and vehicle traffic will be diverted from the next exit towards Aradippou.
On the Larnaca-Famagusta motorway, in sections in both directions, from Tuesday 24/02/2026 until Friday 06/03/2026, from 07:00 to 16:00, excluding weekends, work will be carried out to apply thermoplastic paint to the existing asphalt on the following sections of the motorway:
Larnaca-Paralimni motorway, in the direction from Larnaca to Paralimni, from a point 200 m. before the Xylofagou exit, which leads to Michalaki Vrachimi Street in Xylofagou, up to 200 m. before the Liopetriou exit, which leads to Agia Thekla Avenue in the Municipal District of Liopetriou, with a total length of 1.9 km., where it will remain consecutively one lane will be closed from 24/02/2026 to 25/02/2026 and traffic will be diverted through the other lane.
Paralimni-Larnaca Motorway, in the direction from Paralimni to Larnaca, from the roundabout at the beginning of the motorway up to 500 m. after the first exit leading to Kataspilon Street in the Ayia Napa Municipal District, with a total length of 2.5 km., where one lane will remain closed sequentially from 26/02/2026 to 27/02/2026 and traffic will be diverted through the other lane.
Paralimni-Larnaca Motorway, heading from Paralimni to Larnaca, from the Liopetriou exit leading to Agia Thekla Avenue in the Municipal District of Liopetriou, up to 200 m. after the Xylofagou exit leading to Michalaki Vrachimi Street in Xylofagou, with a total length of 2.1 km., where one lane will remain closed sequentially from 02/03/2026 to 03/03/2026 and traffic will be diverted through the other lane.
Paralimni-Larnaca Motorway, heading from Paralimni to Larnaca, from a point 600 m. before the Xylotymvos exit, which leads to the E343 road in Xylotymvos, up to 200 m. after the Xylotymvos exit, with a total length of 0.8 km., one lane will remain closed sequentially from 04/03/2026 to 06/03/2026 and traffic will be diverted via the other lane.
Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway
On the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, during the period 16/02/2026-13/03/2026, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and holidays, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the central island tangential road will be closed simultaneously in both directions, at five different points. of the motorway, from the "Kalo Chorio" roundabout to Kofinou, successively for a length of 100 meters each time.
Limassol-Nicosia Motorway
From Tuesday 24/02/2026 until Thursday 26/02/2026, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, safety barrier replacement works will be carried out on sections of the Limassol-Nicosia and Limassol-Paphos motorways, between the Skarinou exit and the Petra tou Romiou exit in both directions. During the works, one lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
Nicosia Perimeter Motorway
From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.
Limassol-Paphos Motorway
From Tuesday 24/02/2026 until Thursday 26/02/2026, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the following day, safety barrier replacement works will be carried out on sections of the Limassol-Paphos and Limassol-Nicosia motorways, between the Skarinou exit and the Petra tou Romiou exit in both directions. During the works, one lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
Nicosia District
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.
Larnaca District
On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, as part of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, from Friday 19/12/2025 and for a period of four months, the works of the 5th and final phase of the Project will be carried out, on the section of the road from the height of the Organized Oroklini Beach (Kiosk) to the junction with Pyla. During the works, this section of the road will be closed to traffic in both directions and traffic will be diverted via Galaxia, Salaminos, Selinis and Oceanias streets, in Oroklini and Ithakis street, in Pyla. For residents and businesses in the area, appropriate arrangements will be made for access to their premises.
In Larnaca, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, from 02/02/2026 until 15/03/2026, construction works of sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, cycle paths and flowerbeds will be carried out on the Northern Service Road of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue near the Larnaca Port Roundabout. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 200m in length from the junction of the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou Avenue with Atalantis Street to the junction with Dimosthenous Street. During the works, the northern service road will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to secondary roads using appropriate signage. For easy access for residents and to facilitate traffic, the following necessary temporary traffic regulations will be implemented using appropriate and approved road markings:
· Removal of the one-way section of the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou from its junction with Atalantis Street and its conversion into a dead end
· Reversal of the one-way section of the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou from its junction with Galinis Street and its conversion into a dead end
· Reversal of the one-way section of Galinis Street from its junction with Demosthenous Street to the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou with a permitted route towards the service road of Spyros Kyprianou
Also within the framework of the Project “Erga Protereo of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca - Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, from 13/02/2026 until 27/03/2026, works will be carried out on Fotis Kontoglou Street, which is parallel to Spyros Kyprianou Avenue. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 40m. from the junction of Fotis Kontoglou Street with Themidos Street. During the works, part of Fotis Kontoglou Street will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted to side roads using appropriate signage. For the smooth passage of traffic, the one-way section of Electra Street will be removed from its junction with Fotis Kontoglou Street to the northern service road of Spyros Kyprianou where it will turn into a dead end.
As part of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, during the period 18/2/2026 – 31/3/2026, sidewalk reconstruction works will be carried out on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue. The works will be carried out on a section of approximately 70 meters in length, on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, from the height of Kozanis Street to the height of Petrou Mavromichali Street. The left lane of traffic on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue will remain closed and traffic will be directed to the right lane using appropriate road markings. Also, part of Petrou Mavromichali Street will be closed to traffic and the Traffic will be diverted to secondary roads using appropriate signage.
On the Kalou Chorio-Mosfilotis road, Panagias Eleousas street, within the community of Agia Anna, on Thursday 26/02/2026, between the hours of 09:00–14:00, excavations will be carried out by the Larnaca District Administration. During the works, a section of one lane of the road, heading from Agia Anna to Pyrga, will be closed for approximately 20 meters and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane (alternating), using STOP & GO signage.
Paphos District
In the Municipality of Paphos, within the framework of the Archbishop Makarios III Avenue Improvement Project, in the areas of the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia (Konia), there will be closed section of Archbishop Makarios III Avenue in the area of the Municipalities of Paphos and Hierokipia, as well as in Konia, from Thursday, January 29, 2026 and for a period of approximately three months. A part of the uphill lane of the Avenue (along its northern side) will remain closed, from its junction with Achepans Street to the junction of the avenue with Thasos Street (Konia). The two above-mentioned lanes will operate, Thasos Street normally, while Achepans Street partially, since traffic will be carried out unhindered in the uphill lane, while in the downhill lane, from the height of the junction of the street with Vasilikon Street and up to the junction with the avenue under improvement, ONLY ambulances will be allowed to use it. The uphill towards Konia and the wider area will be done ONLY from the exit of the highway to Konya. The works will start at 06.00 am on Thursday 29/01/2026 and will be completed in approximately three months from the start date.
