The Police proceeded to arrest two more persons, in connection with the case of burglary of a house in the province of Larnaca, from which, among other things, two hunting firearms were stolen.
They are 17-year-olds and 18-year-olds, who were arrested yesterday, February 23, by virtue of court warrants issued as part of the investigation of the case.
The arrest of the two suspects was preceded by the arrest of another 17-year-old, in the evening of February 22, also by virtue of a court warrant. He was brought before the Larnaca District Court yesterday, which approved a relevant request from the Police and issued a seven-day detention order for the purpose of police examinations.
According to the evidence in the case, on the night between February 21 and 22, a burglary was committed at the residence of a 46-year-old man, in the province of Larnaca, from where a gunman was stolen, in which there were two double-barrelled hunting firearms, a sum of money, as well as a safe, which also contained a sum of money.
Members of the Police located on the night of February 22, in an area in the province of Larnaca, the two firearms and the safe with a sum of money it contained.

The Larnaca District Court has renewed the detention for another six days of five suspects who were arrested on February 14 by YKAN for a case related to drug trafficking.
These are five men whose ages are 39 years old, two 19-year-olds and two 23-year-olds.
Against the five suspects, the police are investigating seven offenses which relate to conspiracy to commit a felony, illegal supply of a class A and B controlled drug by another person, illegal possession of a class A and B controlled drug, illegal possession of a class A and B controlled drug for the purpose of supplying to other persons, offenses in violation of the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering, participation in a criminal organization. One of the two 19-year-olds faces an eighth charge of possession of a category B firearm.
A total of nine people were arrested in connection with the case. It is noted that separate criminal cases have been filed against the other four suspects which are being investigated. It is possible that the Police will make other arrests in the coming days since a 20-year-old man is also wanted.
The defense attorneys of the five suspects objected to the police's request to renew the detention of their clients for a period of 8 days.
The Court proceeded to renew the detention order of the five suspects for a period of 6 days.
For this case, the supplier of the drugs, the final recipients of the drugs as well as other associates of the suspects are being sought. Any dismissal of them, the investigator of the case said, is seriously estimated that it will negatively and to a large extent affect the work of the police in this serious case, since there is a possibility that if the suspects are released, they will influence witnesses and testimony or even destroy evidence. He also said that there is a possibility that the suspects will flee abroad or to areas not controlled by the Republic.
The Court stated that there is testimony about the commission of the offenses, the connection of the suspects, the investigative work of the police is ongoing and if the suspects are released they may influence testimony, or destroy evidence or flee outside Cyprus or to the occupied territories.
It is recalled that in the context of the actions and surveillance carried out by YKAN to identify and arrest members of criminal groups that traffic and trade large quantities of drugs, a coordinated operation was carried out on February 14 in Larnaca in which 27 members of YKAN from various Units of the Service took part.
During the operation, nine people were arrested, houses, premises and vehicles were searched, while seized, among other things, 400 grams of cocaine, 150 grams of cannabis, precision scales, ten mobile phones, a pistol with a silencer, a firearm, the sum of 9.605 euros and three vehicles."
The examinations continue by YKAN Larnaca, while a financial investigation will also be carried out in relation to what was confiscated during the operation.
According to the Police, the people who have been arrested have nothing to do with other criminal groups. They are considered by the authorities to be drug traffickers mainly in Larnaca.

The Police made two arrests for speeding, as part of the increased policing measures implemented, with the aim of preventing serious and fatal road collisions.
Specifically, around 11.00 last night, members of the OPOD located on the Limassol - Nicosia highway, near the GSP, a car driven by a 25-year-old woman and moving at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour, instead of the allowed limit of 100 kilometers.
The vehicle was stopped and the 25-year-old was arrested.
Today she is expected to be brought before the Nicosia District Court for immediate registration of the case.
Besides, around 2.20 in the morning today, members of the OPOD located on the same highway, near Nisou, a car driven by a 31-year-old man and moving at a speed of 195 kilometers per hour, instead of the allowed limit of 100 kilometers.
The vehicle was stopped and the 31-year-old was arrested.
Today he will appear before the Nicosia District Court for immediate registration of the case.

The presence and action of the Police last night was intense, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in key points of urban areas, with the aim of preventing serious criminal acts, ensuring public order and increasing the sense of security of the public.
As a result of the preventive policing operations, six persons were arrested for various offenses, including illegal possession of drugs for the purpose of supply, burglary and theft, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving a vehicle at excessive speed, and pending court fine warrants.
As part of these operations, during the night, 374 vehicles were stopped for inspection and 487 persons on board were checked. At the same time, 27 inspections of premises were carried out, with the aim of dealing with phenomena of delinquency.
During traffic checks carried out, 95 complaints were made, concerning various traffic violations. The complaints and arrest of two drivers, who were found driving their vehicles at a speed of 200 and 195 kilometers respectively, on the Nicosia-Limassol highway, stand out. As part of the police investigations, eight investigated cases of traffic violations also emerged, while seven vehicles were detained.
