COLD AIR MASS IS COMING - RAIN, STORMS AND SNOW ON THE MENU

COLD AIR MASS IS COMING - RAIN, STORMS AND SNOW ON THE MENU - Filenews 25/2

Low pressure is gradually affecting the area, while a cold air mass is expected from tomorrow.

Today, initially the weather will be mostly clear, with locally increased clouds in western areas. Gradually, it will become partly cloudy and locally mostly cloudy with isolated rains, initially in the west and progressively in the rest of the areas. On the highest peaks of Troodos, it is possible that snow or sleet will fall. Winds will be mainly southwest to west, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and gradually to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and later on the windward coast to very strong, 5 to 6 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough to rough and later locally rough. The temperature will rise to around 20 degrees inland and on the coasts and to 7 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonightlocal rains and snow are gradually expected in the higher mountains, without ruling out an isolated storm, with the phenomena weakening by the morning. Winds will initially blow southwest to west, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort and in leeward areas to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, to later turn to west to northwest, of the same intensity. The sea will generally be rough. The temperature will drop to 7 degrees inland, around 10 on the coast and 1 degree in the higher mountains, where frost is expected to form locally.

On ThursdayFriday and Saturday, periods of mostly clear weather will alternate with increased cloudiness, with the possibility of isolated rain and occasional light snowfall in mountainous areas. The area will be affected by a relatively cold northerly air current.

The temperature will drop noticeably until Friday, to fluctuate below the average climatic values. A slight increase is expected on Saturday.
