BEFORE THE PRESIDENT, THE REOPENING OF THE CANTEEN AT PAPHOS GENERAL HOSPITAL

Filenews 2 February 2026 - by Dora Christodoulou

The issue of the long-term closure of the canteen at the Paphos Hospital has reached the President of the Republic himself, in an attempt to find a solution for the benefit of the visitors of the hospital and beyond. Information from "F" states that the issue was raised during the meeting that Nikos Christodoulidis had at the Presidential Palace last week with the MPs of Paphos and the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous regarding the new City Hospital.

On the sidelines of the President's announcements for the promotion of the major project, the specific issue was raised by MP Chrysanthos Savvidis, pointing out that he and other Paphos MPs are daily the recipients of strong complaints from citizens who often come to the state hospital from very long distances, that they cannot have a water or something to eat during their long wait there.

The same information even tells us that Mr. Savvides characteristically said before President Christodoulidis to the representatives of OKYPY who participated in the meeting, that if the difficulty in finding a solution continues, he can himself undertake the reopening of the space within a few days, indicating that it is inconceivable that it is impossible to promote such a simple issue.

The Paphos MP of DIKO himself confirmed this fact speaking to "F", stressing that as in the case of the new Polis Chrysochous Hospital, President Christodoulidis showed particular interest in the immediate resolution of this issue in order to stop the suffering of hundreds of citizens every day.
