The actions of the government for 2026 in the field of Transparency, Accountability and the fight against Corruption were presented by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, underlining the political will that exists to strengthen the credibility of institutions and restore the trust of citizens.

The President expressed satisfaction with the improvement of the image of the Republic of Cyprus at the international level, as reflected in the recent reports of GRECO and the European Union on the Rule of Law. As he mentioned, these reports are the guiding framework for the implementation of the necessary reforms promoted by the government.

Following the reforms in the Legal and Audit Offices, as well as the strengthening of the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority, the President announced that the upgrade of the Internal Audit Service will also proceed in 2026. The goal, as he stressed, is to create a strong and effective prevention system, which will strengthen the lines of defense and ensure proper risk management in the public administration.

At the same time, President Christodoulides announced the creation of a National Foreign Direct Investment Control Mechanism within 2026. This is a new tool that aims to further enhance transparency, but also national security, ensuring that foreign investments in Cyprus are carried out with clear rules, control and institutional accountability.
