US President Donald Trump announced today that he is nominating Kevin Wars, a former member of the Federal Reserve Board of Directors, to succeed Jerome Powell as chairman of the US central bank.
"I am pleased to announce that I am nominating Kevin Worcester for the position of CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE," the US president said in a post on Truth and added: "Kevin currently serves as a Distinguished Visiting Researcher in economics at the Hoover Institution and as a Lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Administration. He is a partner of Stanley Druckenmiller at Duquesne Family Office LLC. He received his bachelor's degree from Stanford University and his law degree from Harvard Law School.
He has conducted extensive research in the field of Economics and Finance. Kevin issued an Independent Report to the Bank of England proposing reforms in the conduct of monetary policy in the United Kingdom. Parliament adopted the report's recommendations.
Kevin became the youngest member of the Fed's Board of Directors in history, at 35 years old, and served as a member of the Board of Directors from 2006 to 2011, Federal Reserve Representative to the G-20 and Board Envoy to Emerging and Advanced Economies of Asia. In addition, he managed and oversaw the operations, staff, and financial performance of the Board of Directors.
Prior to his appointment to the Board of Directors, from 2002 to 2006, Kevin served as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Executive Secretary of the White House National Economic Council.
Previously, Kevin was a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Division at Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York, serving as Vice President and Executive Director.
I've known Kevin for a long time, and I have no doubt that he will go down in history as one of the GREAT Fed chairmen, perhaps the best. Apart from everything else, he is a "main protagonist" and will never let us down. Congratulations Kevin! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP."
