TRUMP ON CHINA AND WIND TURBINES

 Filenews 25 January 2026

The "radioactive" of the energypress.gr is essential and apt. He commented on a Trump report from the Davos podium as follows:

"We did not expect this to evaluate the man's credibility, but it is indicative: During his speech in Davos, President Trump said that the Chinese produce and install in their country some few wind turbines for the eyes of the world, which in fact they do not operate, while they produce and export, at a very high price, many more wind turbines to other countries of the world.

A quick search on the internet yielded the following data, regarding the domestic installed capacity and annual production of Electricity from wind at the end of 2024 – beginning of 2025:

  • China: 520 GW, 992 TWh
  • EU-27: 231 GW, 475 TWh
  • US: 155 GW, 453 TWh

In 2024, China's annual wind turbine exports were 5.2 GW."

And for its part, Euronews, citing the energy think tank Ember, writes that China's wind production in 2024 accounted for 40% of global wind production. In 2025, however, China achieved a new milestone in its energy transition, with wind and solar power together generating more than a quarter (26%) of the country's electricity in April. This surpassed the previous record of 23.7% recorded a month earlier, in March 2025.

Euronews does not shy away from mocking Mr. Trump: "Despite Trump's inability to locate wind turbines in China, the country is home to the world's largest wind farm, which is visible from space. It is located in the large desert area of western Ganshu. The construction of the Gansu Wind Farm began in 2009, with the first phase being completed just one year later. It already has more than 7,000 wind turbines. When completed, it is planned to have an installed capacity of 20 GW, enough to power about 15 million homes.
