The daily life of those trafficked on the road network of the city and suburban area of Paphos is now becoming more and more difficult.
The admission that the problem no longer concerns only the tourist season or the holidays, but is a daily reality, contributes to the fact that traffic is now treated as an issue of immediate priority and is at the top of the agenda to be solved with the advent of 2026.
Both the daily picture on most of the main roads of Paphos and the peri-urban area, as well as the almost daily serious or less serious road accidents, push the Police, the municipal authority and the Traffic Studies Body to get more into the problem. Although the situation in Paphos is still far from the one experienced by the residents of Nicosia and Limassol, the worsening of the problem is worrying, given that traffic was an issue that did not even concern officials and the public.
Today, however, with the increase in population and commercial activities in Paphos, but also with the negative effects that the large-scale regeneration of recent years in areas of the city has had on the road network, the problem has grown to an alarming degree, competent bodies acknowledge. They point out that in specific parts of the urban road network, the existing road network cannot essentially support traffic traffic, no matter how many individual interventions are made by the members of the Traffic Police.
In particular, there is talk of the roundabouts of Konia and Paphos Hospital, in which the situation is characterized as very dangerous, since the flow of vehicles is done in a way that makes the phenomenon of road collisions very frequent, while the traffic congestion, especially in this Konia area, is unprecedented for Paphian data.
Police crews were all day from early in the morning at these key points of the road network trying to ease the situation, however the delays, queues and minor accidents recorded are now part of everyday life.
Serious malfunction is often recorded in other parts of the road network of the city and suburban area, such as the road of the Silos, from Mesogi to the Paphos Hospital, Tassos Papadopoulos Avenue from Biofos to the EAC, as well as all the main roads leading to the shopping center, such as Ellados, Evagoras Pallikaridis, Griva Digeni Avenues.
