Filenews 27 January 2026

The personnel of the Navy Command of the National Guard are 24 hours a day in a state of operational readiness, carrying out patrols and exercises throughout the Cypriot EEZ.

On Tuesday (20/01) the ships PATH Ioannidis and PGY Alassia of the National Guard, carried out a joint exercise with the Israeli Navy, under the name "CYP/ISR-01/2026".

The objective of the Exercise was to promote interoperability between the two forces, while the exercises carried out included scenarios of tactical movements, advanced maneuvers and formations. During the exercise, procedures for controlling a suspicious ship, communication with the use of flags, exchange of Liaison Officers and Sanitation teams at sea were also examined.

Activities of this nature are particularly beneficial as they provide the possibility to examine important scenarios in real conditions at sea. Joint training with Israel is part of the actions included in the National Guard's Defense Cooperation programs
