Filenews 22 January 2026 - by Dora Christodoulou

After the problems that make it difficult to practice their profession and which are identical throughout Cyprus, the taxi drivers at Paphos Airport are also bringing back the issues they face especially at the airport for their smooth work and proper service to the public.

On the occasion of Tuesday's nationwide strike over the general problems of the industry, taxi drivers at Paphos International Airport are bringing back to the fore what was put before the Minister of Transport, Alexis Vafeadis, last October.

That meeting had taken place in the context of Mr. Vafeadis' on-site visit, to see up close the removal of the cement blockades that had been placed for security reasons for about two years in areas of Paphos airport.

The continuation of the existence of these obstacles on the access road to the buildings and in front of the arrivals and departures of passengers, was the number one problem faced by professional drivers. After its resolution, the taxi drivers also raised with the competent minister the issues of the lack of parking space for taxis near the passenger buildings, the lack of a platform, but also offices within the airport.

According to the professionals, the Minister of Transport committed to the immediate solution of the problems that are still observed at Paphos International Airport with a constant focus on the smooth operation of the unit and the better service of the public with the smooth operation of taxis, without, however, to date having specific results, as they report.
