Filenews 28 January 2026
Two roads in the Akamas National Forest Park remain closed to traffic, as they were deemed dangerous due to serious damage to the roads from the recent severe weather phenomena.
According to an announcement by the Department of Forests on Tuesday, these are the roads "Avakas to Agia Matrona" and "Avakas to Lipatis", which have suffered damage that makes the passage of vehicles dangerous.
The Department adds that at the same time there is an accumulation of water, which makes them impassable. Therefore, both roads will be closed from 27/1/2026 and until further notice.
The Department of Forests apologizes for any inconvenience to the public and will come back with a new announcement when and when the danger has passed and the damage is repaired so that they become passable and safe for the movement of the public.
