ROADS AFFECTED DUE TO BAD WEATHER - LANDSLIDES, WATER ACCUMULATION AND DENSE FOG

 Filenews 24 January 2026

Landslides of stones and volumes of soil have occurred on the Limassol-Paphos highway, at the height of the Sotiras and Paramali areas, as well as on the Nicosia-Larnaca highway, at the height of the Lympion-Athienou-Koshi area.

In addition, stone landslides also occurred on the following roads in Troodos, with the Police recommending special attention to passing vehicle drivers:

  • Evrychou – Kakopetria – Karvouna
  • Kakopetrias – Pinewood – Pedoula
  • Pedoulas – Kykkos – Kampos – Orkontas

In these areas, around 8.00 on Saturday morning, there is dense fog, as a result of which visibility on the road network is limited, while in various parts of the roads, there is an accumulation of water, as a result of which the road surface is slippery.

Drivers are asked to drive at low speeds, maintain a safe distance from the vehicles in front, keep their vehicle's headlights on and be extremely careful or avoid parts of the road where there is a large accumulation of water.
