 Filenews 30 January 2026

A letter to the Cyprus Police to stop the ex officio investigation against Phaedon Phedonos was sent by his wife, Louisa Andreou. The information was confirmed on Omega television by the spokesman of the House, Christodoulos Konsolos.

Speaking on the show "Information Now", Mr. Konsolos stated that this letter is already in the hands of the Police. The information also states that the side of Mr. Phedonos' wife is requesting the issuance of a relevant announcement by the authorities to stop the investigations. It is recalled that the Mayor of Paphos, in his first reaction after the ex officio action of the Police, welcomed the investigation.

As "F" revealed this morning, a letter to the Police was also sent by the Ministry of the Interior asking for information on the investigation being carried out into the mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phedonos.

According to our information, the letter of the Ministry of the Interior was sent by the director general to the chief of police on January 26, 2026, that is, a day after the Police announced that they are starting an ex officio investigation in relation to information that has been circulating on the internet in recent days and concerns an alleged incident of beating of the wife of the mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phedonos.

The aim is, according to relevant information, to inform the Minister of the Interior, Konstantinos Ioannou, about what exactly the Police are investigating in relation to the mayor of Paphos, so that if the facts and especially the offenses being investigated are of such a form, that they justify initiating the procedures of article 113 of the Municipalities Law of 2022, so that Mr. Phedonos can be suspended.
