MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway
On the Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, the Department of Forestry will carry out pruning and shredding of branches on the slopes of the motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout and the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou.
During the period from 22 December 2025 to 29 January 2026, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the following day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and holidays, on sections of the Larnaca Airport - Paralimni motorway, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the execution of the works, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island, from the Pyla area to the Rizoelia roundabout, will be closed, successively for a length of 100m. each time, simultaneously from both directions, at eight different points.
On the Famagusta-Larnaca motorway, from Monday 12/01/2026 until Tuesday 20/01/2026, from 19:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, excluding weekends, work will be carried out to remove the existing asphalt surface and lay new asphalt surface in the following sections:
From 19/01/2026 until 20/01/2026, on the section of the motorway in the direction from Paralimni to Larnaca, from a point 600m. before the Xylotymvos exit, up to 300m. after the Xylotymvos exit, with a total length of 870m. The section of the motorway will remain closed from 19:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning. Traffic will be diverted by diverting vehicles in the opposite direction of the motorway, through the emergency doors. On the Larnaca Airport-Famagusta and Larnaca-Kofinos motorways, on Saturday, January 17, 2026 and Sunday, January 18, 2026, between the hours of 08:30–17:00, cable pulling works in shafts will be carried out by CYTA. During the works, the following traffic arrangements will be made:
(a) On Saturday, January 17, 2026, on the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni Motorway, the right lane will be closed, opposite the “Kalo Chori” roundabout, in both directions alternately, for a total length of 50m, and
(b) On Sunday, January 18, 2026, on the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, the right lane will be closed, opposite the exit to Klavdia, heading towards Kofinou, for a total length of approximately 1km.
On sections of the Larnaca–Famagusta, Larnaca–Nicosia and Larnaca–Kofinos motorways, in the Larnaca District, from January 19, 2026 to January 30, 2026, daily except weekends, between the hours of 08:30–15:00, maintenance work on safety barriers will be carried out. During the work, the left lane will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway
On the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, work will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the slopes of the road.
On sections of the motorway, during the period 12/01/2026-06/02/2026, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, weekdays except Fridays and weekends, work will be carried out to install emergency doors on the central island. During the works, part of the right lane of the motorway between the "Kalo Chorio" roundabout and Kofinou will be closed, successively for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at five different points.
On the Larnaca Airport-Famagusta and Larnaca-Kofinou motorways, on Saturday, January 17, 2026 and Sunday, January 18, 2026, between the hours of 08:30–17:00, cable pulling works in shafts will be carried out by CYTA. During the works, the following traffic arrangements will be made:

On sections of the Larnaca-Nicosia, Larnaca-Agia Napa and Larnaca-Kofinou motorways, in the Larnaca District, from January 19, 2026 to January 30, 2026, daily except weekends, between the hours of 08:30–15:00, safety barrier maintenance work will be carried out. During the work, the left lane will be partially closed for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
Limassol-Nicosia Motorway
On the motorway, in the direction of Nicosia, from Wednesday 07/01/2026 until Thursday 22/01/2026, except Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 20:00 at night and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road marking works will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed at any time for a length of approximately 500m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.
Nicosia Perimeter Motorway
From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.
Limassol Bypass
On the Limassol Bypass near Tsireion Stadium, heading towards Paphos, on Sunday 18/01/2026, between the hours of 06:00 – 09:00, repair works will be carried out on manhole covers. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed locally, approximately 50m in length.
Nicosia District
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.
On the Nicosia-Palaichori road, in a section of approximately 1.5 kilometers, from Saturday 06/12/2025, traffic will be diverted via a new bypass north of the existing road in two-way traffic, due to the construction works of the Nicosia-Palaichori motorway. Also, the existing road to Agios Ioannis will be closed and traffic towards Agios Ioannis will be diverted from the new junction of the road at the Malounta Roundabout. Traffic towards Malounta and the 2nd Regional High School of Nicosia will be diverted from the bypass of the existing road at a point 200 meters before the Malounta Roundabout.
On the Anthoupolis-Palaichori road, in the section of approximately 1.0 km from the existing junction with the road to Agrokipia, until the end of the motorway, from Saturday 10/01/2026, traffic will be conducted through a new bypass north of the existing road in two-way traffic. Also, the existing road to Agrokipia-Mitsero will be closed and traffic will be directed from the new junction of the road to the Agrokipia roundabout.
In Strovolos, as part of the Improvement/Construction Project of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and part of Tseriou Avenue, from Friday, January 9, 2026 at 12:00 noon, the traffic light-controlled intersection between Tseriou Avenue and Theofilou Georgiadis Street will reopen with temporary traffic management. At the same time, the temporary traffic light-controlled intersection that had been constructed with Vasilissis Amalias Street and then towards Theofilou Georgiadis Street will be closed to traffic.
Larnaca District
In Larnaca, on Limassol Avenue, during the period 31/12/2025-31/01/2026, sidewalk reconstruction works will be carried out, within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”. The works will be carried out in the section from the junction of Limassol Avenue with Charilaou Trikoupi Street to the height of Limassol Avenue near Ikarias Street. During the works, the left lane will be closed in sections. Traffic will be directed to the right lane using appropriate and approved road markings.
On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, as part of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, from Friday 19/12/2025 and for a period of four months, the works of the 5th and final phase of the Project will be carried out, on the section of the road from the height of the Organized Oroklini Beach (Kiosk) to the junction with Pyla. During the works, this section of the road will be closed to traffic in both directions and traffic will be diverted via Galaxia, Salaminos, Selinis and Oceanias streets, in Oroklini and Ithakis street, in Pyla. For residents and businesses in the area, appropriate arrangements will be made for access to their premises.
On the old Larnaca-Kofinou road, from the “Free Trade Zone” area to the exit to Klavdia (direction to Kofinou), on Monday, January 19, 2026 and Tuesday, January 20, 2026, between the hours of 08:00–17:00, cable pulling works in manholes will be carried out by CYTA. During the works, part of one traffic lane will be closed (locally over manholes) and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane, using STOP & GO signage.
Also, within the framework of the construction works of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Improvement Project Phase C, from Monday 12/01/2026 until Saturday 17/01/2026, works will be carried out to raise manhole covers and install the surface asphalt layer on the Coastal Road, from the height of the Athens Road roundabout in Oroklini to the roundabout at the exit to Oroklini. During the works on the above section of approximately 400m in length, the traffic lanes in the direction from Larnaca to Dhekelia will be closed on 12/01/2026-14/01/2026, while for the direction from Dhekelia to Larnaca they will be closed on 15/01/2026-17/01/2026. Traffic from Larnaca to Dhekelia will be diverted throughout the duration via Athinon, Olympos, Bella-Pais and Christos Afxentiou Avenue in Oroklini, while traffic from Dhekelia to Larnaca will be diverted to the lanes of the Coastal Road that will not be closed.
Paphos District
On the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road, from Wednesday 07/01/2026 until Monday 09/02/2026, including weekends, work will be carried out to replace safety barriers on bridges, near the communities of Stroumbi, Miliou, Kato Akourdalia and Skoulli. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, which will operate in two-way traffic, using a temporary mobile traffic light system.
