A total of 4,414 potential victims of human trafficking were identified and protected during a global operation coordinated by INTERPOL, involving 119 countries, including Cyprus. The operation also identified 12,992 irregular migrants.

Operation Liberterra III, conducted from November 10 to 21, 2025, also led to the arrest of 3,744 suspects. According to initial reports from participating countries, more than 1,800 arrested are related to human and migrant trafficking offences.

As part of the operation, more than 14,000 police officers were mobilized, who were used in patrols and targeted checks at points of interest, as well as to strengthen border controls. At the same time, more than 720 new investigations were launched, many of which are ongoing.

Commenting on the results of the operation, INTERPOL Secretary-General Valdecy Urquiza said: "The level of law enforcement measures underscores strong cooperation, but the broader trends that have been revealed are equally important. Criminal networks are evolving, exploiting new routes, digital platforms and vulnerable populations. Identifying these patterns allows law enforcement to anticipate threats, disrupt networks sooner, and better protect victims."

The Cyprus Police participated in Operation Liberterra III, carrying out a large number of checks at Cypriot airports and along the Green Line. More than 1250 checks on persons were carried out, during which 55 irregular migrants were identified. Three persons were also arrested, who attempted to enter Cyprus, using false travel documents.
