Eleven years have passed since the election of Phaedon Phedonos to the mayoral seat of Paphos. The Mayor's message: 11 years ago, exactly on this day, I was elected Mayor of Paphos.
All this time my colleagues and I have worked with dedication, planning, perseverance and method. We implemented more than 120 projects, with a total cost of more than €240 million. We introduced and enforced good administration, transparency and accountability.
Today, 11 years later, Paphos is a small modern European city, with quality of life, self-confidence and perspective. A city with bases and infrastructure for diverse economic and social development. Not only in tourism but also in education, services, technology. A city that makes its people proud.
In these 11 years, I have been fortunate, in addition to devoted friends, to have strong enemies. Luck because they are a measure of value and because strong resistance builds character, resilience and determination. I thank from the bottom of my heart the citizens who trusted me and my colleagues, inside and outside the Municipality, for their valuable contribution.
My only promise is to continue working to make Paphos a model of a modern city. But also competent, clean, effective governance for the benefit of its citizens. My conclusion during these 11 years is that in our country a new beginning must be made for real progress with good administration and transparency!
