 Filenews 22January 2026

The Plenary Session of the House of Representatives unanimously approved the amending regulations establishing insurance coverage for members of the Army who are entitled to an allowance in the event of death or permanent total incapacity for work in the performance of high-risk duties.

The new regulations provide that the personnel of the National Guard who are beneficiaries of a risk allowance and have died or suffered permanent total disability in the exercise of their duties, will be covered by insurance by the Republic.

The basic provisions of the regulations are as follows:

  1. In the event of death, the amount of insurance coverage amounts to €115,000 as a lump sum, which is distributed equally to the heirs of the deceased, with an additional €95,000 per dependent.
  2. In the event of permanent total incapacity for work, the insurance coverage again amounts to €115,000 as a lump sum, plus €95,000 per dependent.
  3. The insurance coverage for permanent total disability is paid following a decision of a competent medical council, as a result of an injury during the performance of the duties of a member of the Army.
  4. Insurance coverage amounts are not subject to tax or other charges.
  5. In the event of a claim for damages, the court will take into account and offset the amount paid in accordance with the regulations.
