GESY SCAM MESSAGES CONTINUE

 Filenews 23 January 2026

The Health Insurance Organization (HIO) and the Police inform the public about the continuation of the sending of false and malicious text messages (SMS) to mobile phones, which bear the name GHS or GESY.

In a statement, it is stated that the HIO and the GHS have nothing to do with the specific messages and adds that "these messages mislead the recipient that he must follow a specific electronic link in order to correct his personal information".

It is also stated that the HIO will never ask for passwords, login details, payment details or any other personal data through text messages (SMS), as well as will not ask citizens to carry out any financial transaction through links.

The HIO and the Police call on the public to be especially careful and to trust only announcements and posts published through the official information channels of the HIO.

"In case you receive a message of this type, please do not open the link and delete the message immediately," the announcement concludes.
