For a total of 14 products, including tools, jewellery, clothing and toys found on the market of EU states, which contain dangerous chemicals, the Department of Labour Inspection informs with an announcement.
The Department invites citizens, in case they find any of the 14 products in the Cypriot market, to inform the competent Officers of the Department of Labour Inspection. These products have been registered in the Rapid Exchange of Information on Non-Food Safety (RAPEX).
The following list is provided in the announcement of the Department:
Battery (power bank), brand name "Powerbank" and code MW-20230120. The product is sold online and was spotted in the Swedish market. In the plastic parts of the product, it contains more than the maximum limit allowed by law Dibutyl Ester Phthalate (DBP) as well as Chlorinated Short Chain Paraffins (SCCPs). DBP is a reproductive toxic substance, and SCCPs are persistent organic pollutants.
Soft toys, brand name "BIGTOYS" with code 587B. The product is Chinese-made, found on the market in Poland and contains the toxic substance phthalate bis(2-ethylhexyl) ester (DEHP), in a percentage higher than the maximum permitted by law, which is 0.1% by weight.
Tool set, brand "XL Tools" and code 291-XL0440131. The product is Chinese-made, found on the Finnish market and in its plastic parts, it contains the toxic substance phthalate bis(2-ethylhexyl) ester (DEHP), in a percentage greater than the maximum permitted by law, which is 0.1% by weight.
Baby doll, brand name "ML Little sister" and code 6369. The product is Chinese-made, found on the Slovenian market and in its plastic parts it contains the toxic substance phthalate bis(2-ethylhexyl) Ester (DEHP), at a rate higher than the maximum permitted by law, which is 0.1% by weight.
Clamp pliers, brand name "XL Tools" and code 291-XL044042. The product is Chinese-made, found on the Finnish market and in its plastic parts, it contains the toxic substance phthalate bis(2-ethylhexyl) ester (DEHP), in a percentage greater than the maximum permitted by law, which is 0.1% by weight.
Jacket, brand name "Anorak" with code RKN153 PID-00002641. The product is sold online and was spotted on the French market. It contains long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCA C9-C14) and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in excess of the maximum permitted by law. These substances are Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).
