The Cyprus Department of Meteorology predicts a deterioration of the weather with rain from tomorrow, Saturday, as well as a noticeable drop in temperature until Monday.
In his statements, the official of the Department of Meteorology, Panagiotis Ligis, stated that a change in the weather is expected with the entry of a colder air mass into the area, which will gradually affect the island.
Asked what the weather will be like in the coming days, Mr. Ligis said that from this afternoon some phenomena will slowly begin in the mountains and west.
As he said, from the evening there will be some isolated rains in the mountains and in the western half of the island.
On Saturday, he said, the day will start with isolated rain phenomena again mainly west and north, and slowly in the afternoon mainly and in the evening from isolated phenomena develop into local rains. Rain is expected in more areas on Saturday night and until Sunday morning.
In general, more phenomena are expected on Saturday night and until Sunday morning in more areas, while due to the fact that the temperature will begin to drop, snowfall is expected in the higher mountains.
On Sunday, after noon, as Mr. Ligis said, the phenomena are expected to weaken and the drop in temperature will continue, which on Monday is expected to drop by about 5 degrees Celsius compared to today.
Answering a question, Mr. Ligis said that the average normal temperature for the season is around 16 degrees, about as many as it will fluctuate today and tomorrow.
Asked if significant rains are expected in the next two days, Mr. Ligis said that from Saturday afternoon until noon on Sunday, there will be local rains in several areas and possibly isolated short thunderstorms.
