The Romanian name of the person who, as Filenews had revealed, participated in some of the contacts made with Giorgos Lakkotrypis, Charalambos Charalambous and Giorgos Chrysochos is now known.
The person, who, as we had written in our previous report, had an Eastern European accent in his meeting with the director of Cyfield, George Chrysochos, had introduced himself as Florin Georgiou.
According to today's article in "F", "the meeting in the English capital lasted two hours. In this context, various issues were discussed. One of the participants in the plan to intercept the material presented himself to Mr. Chrysochos with a name, which resembles a Romanian. And his pronunciation reminded him of a citizen of an Eastern European country."
The revelation of the name was made by the journalist Tasos Telloglou in the main bulletin of ANT1 Greece.
As the well-known Greek colleague said, "the alleged representative of the investment company Stratix Wealth used the name of a chess player from Romania, who is now 81 years old, in his meetings with an associate of the President of the Republic and two businessmen."
"Georgiou", according to information known to the Cyprus Police, during the first 10 days of last December, was talking by teleconference with the director of the office of the President of the Republic, Charalambos Charalambous and Giorgos Lakkotrypis.
The current close associate of the President and the former government official talked to the self-identified Georgiou for about 45 minutes. Charalambous allegedly used a connection from the Presidential Palace.
Florin Georgiou is the person who spoke for two hours with the director, Giorgos Chrysochos, at the London meeting, details of which were revealed today by "F".
In the meantime, the creators of the video left traces in Azerbaijan and Spain. They may have used servers in these countries to accomplish their goal.
What preceded
The video in question saw the light of day last Thursday on an account on the "X" platform named "Emily Thompson". It presents excerpts from the positions of the former government official, Giorgos Lakkotrypis, the director of the President's office, Charalambos Charalambous and the director of the Cyfield Group, George Chrysochos.
The way the statements are presented (the material is edited) attempts to project the image that Christodoulides' staff used cash for his election campaign by exceeding the limit of €1 million set by the Law.
The creators of the relevant video presented the image of a mechanism for companies to contribute sums of money to the Presidential Palace in various forms, in order to receive special services and promote their requests.
In the following hours, Giorgos Lakkotrypis went to the offices of the Nicosia Police Department and filed a complaint about stitching together his statements in a way to serve a specific narrative and present himself as saying that cash was being trafficked illegally.
From the first moment, the Presidency of the Republic spoke of hybrid warfare and fabricated video. In fact, information that came to light the day before yesterday states that an analyst report on behalf of the Republic reveals that the attack is of Russian origin.
Immediately, parties and political figures, individually, with public interventions asked the government to give explanations for the issues raised, regardless of whether the video is the product of malicious editing.
So far, information has come to the surface about the main aspects of the case. Mr. Lakkotrypis was approached by persons who stated that they were acting on behalf of the company "Stratix Wealth". They told him that they want to invest €150 million in the energy sector. Mr. Lakkotrypis served as Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry and now participates in the board of directors of an energy corporate organization. The information states that Mr. Lakkotrypis received remuneration for his services, while the cooperation existed for two years. In this context, they had meetings in Cyprus and abroad. Under the same pretext, they met the director of Cyfield, George Chrysochos. Their alleged interest was in Cyfield's project in Vasiliko and specifically the private power station.
