A SKI SLOOPE IN TROODOS WAS CLOSED 24 HOURS AFTER ITS OPENING - 4x4 VEHICLES ENTERED AND CAUSED DAMAGE

Filenews 15 January 2026

The Sun Valley I (Aphrodite) ski slope in the Troodos ski resort was deemed non-functional and dangerous, just 24 hours after its opening, due to extensive damage caused during the night.

Unknown persons entered the slope in 4×4 type vehicles, causing damage to the snow-covered terrain and making it unsuitable for use by skiers. For the entry of the vehicles, the fences that had been installed in order to prevent vehicles from entering the area were allegedly violated.

As reported by the meteorological platform kitasweather, similar incidents are often observed with the first snowfall, when the height of the snow does not act as a deterrent for vehicles to enter the slopes.

The Sun Valley I slope will remain closed until further notice, while the Family Run SV 1 (Beginners only), which is aimed exclusively at beginners, as well as the Sun Valley BABY Lift are still in operation.

At the same time, the lift of the North Face slope remains open to the public exclusively for walking and views from above, without being used for skiing purposes for this particular slope.
