NEW EARTHQUAKE SHOOK CYPRUS TODAY, 4 DECEMBER

A new earthquake occurred this morning in Cyprus, following the one that shook our island yesterday afternoon.

According to the first estimates from the European Mediterranean Seismological Center, the tremor was of magnitude 2,9 and was recorded around 4:20 in the morning.

The epicenter of the earthquake is located 36 kilometers west of Limassol and the earthquake is estimated with a focal depth of 19 kilometers.

It is recalled that yesterday, around 7:00 in the early evening, another earthquake of magnitude 3,9 on the Richter scale preceded it again in the same area.

Earthquakes of smaller magnitude are noted

With an epicenter in the Pissouri area, small seismic tremors were recorded in the early hours of Thursday, after the earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale, which was felt on Wednesday, reports the Geological Survey Department.

According to an announcement, at 19:36 yesterday, the seismological network of the Department recorded an earthquake of magnitude M3.6 on the Richter scale, with an epicenter in the Pissouri area, 30 km west of Limassol and with a focal depth of 15 kilometers.

The earthquake, it is added, was felt mainly in the districts of Paphos and Limassol, while so far there are earthquakes of smaller magnitude in the same area.

The largest of them, with a magnitude of M3.0 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 04:20 in the early hours of Thursday and was locally felt in the area.
