MAJOR ROAD WORKS


Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway

On the section of the motorway from the Pyla area to the Ayia Napa roundabout in both directions, during the period 05/11/2025–22/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and public holidays, work will be carried out on sections of the motorway on the central island to install emergency doors. During the work, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island will be closed, for a length of 100 meters at a time, at eight different points.

During the period from Monday 24/11/2025 to Friday 19/12/2025, daily except Sundays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, work will be carried out to cut/prune and collect acacias and other trees from the shoulders and slopes along the entire length of the Larnaca Airport – Ayia Napa motorway, from Larnaca Airport to the exit to Xylotymvos in both directions, including its junctions. During the execution of the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.

On the Larnaca-Famagusta motorway, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, works will be carried out by the Department of Forestry, as follows:

(a) From 03/12/2025 – 30/01/2026, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and shredding of branches will be carried out on the slopes of the motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout and the Larnaca – Kofinou motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou.

(b) From 08/12/2025 to 22/12/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, works will be carried out on the slopes on the motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout and on the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Lympia and at the triangles of Alethrikou, Klavdia, Rizoelia, Kosii and Lympia.

On the Larnaca-Famagusta motorway, from Monday 08/12/2025 until Saturday 20/12/2025, from 19:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, works will be carried out to remove the existing asphalt surface and lay new asphalt surface, as follows:

From 12/12/2025 until 16/12/2025, the section of the motorway in the direction from Paralimni to Larnaca, from the Liopetriou exit leading to Agia Thekla Avenue in the Municipal District of Liopetriou, up to 200m. after the Xylofagou exit leading to Michalaki Vrachimi Street in Xylofagou, with a total length of 2.1 km, will remain closed. Traffic will be diverted throughout to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage, through the emergency doors.

From 17/12/2025 until 20/12/2025, the section of the motorway in the direction from Larnaca to Paralimni, before the Xylofagou exit, at a distance of approximately 200 m. leading to Michalaki Vrachimi Street in Xylofagou, up to 200 m. before the Liopetriou exit, which leads to Agia Thekla Avenue in the Municipal District of Liopetriou, with a total length of 1.9 km, will remain closed. Traffic will be diverted throughout to the opposite direction, which will operate with two-way traffic using appropriate signage, through the emergency doors. On sections of the motorway between the Rizoelia roundabout and the exit to Xylotymvos in both directions, including its junctions, from Wednesday 10/12/2025 until Friday 12/12/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning, clearing of signs and cleaning will be carried out. During the works, one lane will be closed for a distance of approximately 200 meters and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

From Monday 15/12/2025 until Thursday 18/12/2025, as part of the construction works of the project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", horizontal marking works will be carried out on all four lanes of the coastal road, from the height of the Larnaca Nautical Club roundabout to the Athens Street roundabout, in Oroklini. During the execution of the works, in the above section, one direction at a time will be closed for a distance of 1 km. approximately and traffic will be diverted throughout to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic with the use of appropriate signage.

On Monday 15/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00 – 14:30, repair work will be carried out on an existing impact energy absorption system on the Larnaca – Paralimni motorway, in the direction from Paralimni to Larnaca, opposite the roundabout exit of the Kalo Chorio interchange, towards Larnaca. During the execution of the works, the left lane of the motorway will remain closed for approximately 500m, with traffic being diverted to the other lane.


Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway

On the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou, during the period 03/12/2025-30/01/2026, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, works will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the slopes of the road.


Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway

On the Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Lympia and at the triangles of Alethrikou, Klavdia, Rizoelia, Kosii and Lympia, during the period from 08/12/2025 to 22/12/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, excluding weekends and holidays, work will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the slopes of the road.

On the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway, from the junction with the Nicosia-Limassol motorway to the Lympia junction in both directions, including the exits, from Monday 08/12/2025 until Monday 22/12/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, works will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the slopes of the road. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.

On the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway in the direction of Nicosia, at the Pera Chorio / Agia Varvara exit, on Friday 12/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00-14:00, horizontal marking works will be carried out. This specific work on the motorway will be carried out in sections, closing one lane at a time. Traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane of the motorway. In any case, during the works, there will be appropriate temporary signage for the smooth flow of traffic.


Limassol-Nicosia Motorway

From Monday 15/12/2025 until Thursday 18/12/2025, from 20:30 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, safety barrier repair work will be carried out on the central island of the Nicosia - Limassol motorway (A1) from the G.S.P. to the Skarinou exit in both directions. During the execution of the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be closed in sections, for a length of approximately 500m. each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lanes.

On Monday 15/12/2025 and Tuesday 16/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00 -13:00, acacia pruning works will be carried out on the noise barriers of the Nicosia - Limassol motorway (A1), in the Alambra area, in the direction from Nicosia to Limassol. During the execution of the works, the left traffic lane will remain closed for a distance of approximately 400 meters.

On Sunday 14/12/2025, between the hours of 06:00 - 9:00 in the morning, the removal of overhead lines of the A.H.K. above the Nicosia - Limassol motorway (A1), in the area of ​​the Kofinos junction (Connection Point of the Nicosia - Limassol Motorway, A1 with the Limassol - Larnaca Motorway, A5) in both directions. During the works, the Police will carry out short-term interruptions to the flow of traffic on the Limassol - Nicosia motorway (A1), lasting up to 5 minutes each in both directions.

On Tuesday 16/12/2025 and Wednesday 17/12/2025, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, local repair works will be carried out on the central island of the Limassol - Nicosia motorway near Parekklisia, in the direction of Limassol. During the works, the expressway will be closed for a length of approximately 300m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.


Nicosia Perimeter Motorway

From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the works, traffic to the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be conducted via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic to and from Andromedas Street will be conducted in the two southbound lanes in a two-way direction.


Limassol Bypass

On Saturday 13/12/2025, between the hours of 06:00 – 14:00, sweeping works will be carried out on sections of the Limassol Bypass in both directions. During the works, the expressway lane of the motorway/bypass will be closed in sections over a length of approximately 200m on one direction only, at any time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, with the mobile worksite system.


Limassol-Paphos Motorway

On the motorway in both directions towards Paphos and towards Limassol, from Thursday 20/11/2025 until Thursday 18/12/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, cleaning work will be carried out on the shoulders of the road, including the exits. During the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.

On the Limassol-Paphos motorway, near the Avdimou interchange, on Sunday 14/12/2025, between the hours of 07:00–11:00, cable pulling works will be carried out by a private company. During the works, the right lane in the direction of Paphos will be closed for a length of approximately 1000m and traffic will be diverted to the left lane.


Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia-Akaki Motorway

On a section of the motorway in both directions, between the Kokkinotrimithia roundabout and the Anthoupolis roundabout, from Monday 08/12/2025 until Friday 12/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00 -17:00, work will be carried out to install electronic variable message signs. During the work, on the above section, the left lane will remain closed for a distance of 600m.


Nicosia District

In Nicosia, on Nikis-Acropolis Avenue, near the junction with 25th March Street, from Monday 03/11/2025 and for a period of approximately two (2) months, works will be carried out to widen part of Nikis-Acropolis Avenue, as well as to construct new sidewalks.

Also on Digeni Akrita Avenue, in Nicosia, from Thursday 30 October 2025, the works of the 4th and final phase of repair, maintenance and reinforcement of the existing culvert under the avenue, between Kleomenos Streets and the photo-controlled intersection with Kallipoleos Avenue, have begun, which are estimated to be completed on the morning of Friday 19 December 2025. In the direction from Palouriotissa to Nicosia, the right-turn lane towards Kleomenos Street will be closed to traffic. In the direction towards Pallouriotissa, Digeni Akrita Avenue will be open to traffic, since the smooth regulation of traffic has been ensured with the use of a temporary traffic lane. Traffic from Palouriotissa to Archbishop Makarios III Avenue will not be affected by the works.

In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” project, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, and are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, Famagusta Avenue is included from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long, and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.

As part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, the following traffic regulations will be in place from 24/04/2025 to 12/12/2025:

Kalavryton Street at its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street to get to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street to get to Larnaca Avenue.

Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to get to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Street area who want to travel towards Larnakos Avenue are asked to use Kantaras Street, while those who want to travel towards the Sopaz roundabout are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose.

On Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and parts of Tseriou Avenue, in Strovolos, from Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 12:00 noon, as part of the construction works, a section of Agios Dimitrianou Street, approximately 250m long (at its connection point with Ippokratous Avenue), in Lakatamia, will be closed to traffic for the construction of a Roundabout. During the works, traffic will be diverted via Lysis, Lefkonikou and Neapoleos streets.

On the Nicosia-Palaichori road, in a section of approximately 1.5 kilometers, from Saturday 06/12/2025, traffic will be diverted via a new bypass north of the existing road in two-way traffic, due to the construction works of the Nicosia-Palaichori motorway. Also, the existing road to Agios Ioannis will be closed and the traffic towards Agios Ioannis will be diverted from the new junction of the road at the Malounta Roundabout. Traffic towards Malounta and the 2nd Regional High School of Nicosia will be diverted from the bypass of the existing road at a point 200 meters before the Malounta Roundabout.


Larnaca District

Within the framework of the Project “Priority Projects of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of Larnaca – Implementation of Bus Lanes and Cycle Paths”, from 28/11/2025 until 31/12/2025, sidewalk reconstruction works will be carried out on Limassol Avenue, in Larnaca. The works will be carried out on the section from the junction of Limassol Avenue with Charilaou Trikoupi Street to the junction of Limassol Avenue with Nikiforou Foka Street. During the execution of the works, the left lane will be closed in sections, while traffic will be diverted to the right lane using appropriate and approved road markings.
