FLOODS IN POLIS

 Pafos Live 8 December 21025

The rains that fell yesterday from morning until early afternoon in the area of the Gulf of Chrysochous were cataclysmic with streams rushing down and thousands of tons of water ending up in the sea. From the measurements made so far, it seems that the rains that fell further north, in the mountains, were not of the same intensity.

The provincial engineer of the water department, Haris Kasioulis, speaking to RIK, estimated, however, that with the saturation of the land, which has been thirsty for many months, after the last rains, the flow of water will gradually begin to flow to the dams as well.

The Municipality of Polis Chrysochous expresses its warm thanks for the immediate response and the excellent cooperation of all the services involved in dealing with the unprecedented flooding phenomena that hit the Municipality yesterday.

The municipality especially thanks the Police and the Fire Service for their immediate mobilization and effective coordination, the crews of the Municipality and the working staff, who worked incessantly under difficult conditions, but also the private individuals who helped, providing dickers and other equipment, contributing substantially to the effort to deal with the problems immediately.

The Municipality of Polis Chrysochous remains on alert and in close cooperation with all competent services for any further needs that may arise.
