DANGEROUS CARS, MOTORCYCLES AND PARTS ANNOUNCED BY TOM

Dangerous products involving cars, motorcycles and parts were announced by the Department of Road Transport (TOM), according to information received from the Consumer Protection Authority, during the 48th week of 2025 on the website of the EU Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Non-Food Products (Safety Gate).

In a statement, the TOM states that the dangerous products are the following:

2. SR/04142/25 – CITROEN – Spacetourer, Jumpy – Passenger vehicle – 11/07/2022 – 29/01/2024

3. SR/04143/25 – Volvo – FHE, FME, FMLE – Truck – 12/09/2022 -29/08/2025

4. SR/04146/25 – Mercedes-Benz – CLA – Passenger vehicle – 16/07/2024 – 22/08/2025

5. SR/04150/25 – Morbidelli – T125 e T125X – Motorcycle – Unknown

6. SR/04162/25 – Peugeot – Traveller, Expert – Passenger Vehicle and Freight Vehicle – 17/05/2022 – 29/01/2024

7. SR/04163/25 – Liebherr – HTM, ETM – Truck – 01/01/2016 – 11/06/2025

In the announcement, the TOM calls on manufacturers, agents, distributors of the manufacturer, importers and sellers, who may have placed or place such products on the market of the Republic of Cyprus, to inform the Department accordingly and "to take all necessary measures so that the products in question are recalled as provided for in the relevant legislation".

In addition, the Department invites consumers, in case they possess the specific dangerous products related to cars or motorcycles, to contact the manufacturer or the manufacturer's representative or distributor for instructions.

In case they own parts, the TOM states that "it is considered appropriate to stop using them and return them immediately to the place where they have purchased them (if possible), informing the seller accordingly".

According to the TOM, in the event that a manufacturer, representative, distributor of the manufacturer, importer or seller refuses to comply with the above consumer rights, the consumer is invited to submit his complaint in writing to the Consumer Protection Service through www.consumer.gov.cy website.

It also states that for further information, consumers can contact the Department of Road Transport or at the email address ~recalls@rtd.mcw.gov.cy.
