Only disciplinary offenses arise according to the conclusion of the criminal investigators, for the escape of the lifer 'hairdresser' 14 months ago, when he was escorted to his home in Paphos.

Information from "F" states that the two criminal investigators appointed by the Attorney General to examine any responsibilities from the much-praised case, in their conclusion identify only disciplinary responsibilities and not criminal ones, since it did not appear that anything deliberate happened or that there was a third party hand in the escape. The conclusion of the criminal investigators Stefanos Skordis and Christos Karas, appointed in January 2025 by the Attorney General, was handed over to Giorgos Savvidis last September. Disciplinary responsibilities are attributed to this for a number of officials of the Central Prisons and the Police, in relation to the escape, but also the instructions that existed or did not exist. It is noted that for the issues of escorting prisoners outside the Prisons, there was no set protocol.

According to the terms of reference of the two criminal investigators, they should conduct a criminal investigation regarding the possibility of committing criminal offenses by any members of the Police, members of the Prison Department and/or any other person, regarding the events that took place on 26.09.2024 and concern the conditions of the escape of the convict Theodoros Theofanous but also the conditions of granting exit permit to the convict in question, both on 26.09.2024, and in other cases in the past.

The two criminal investigators were initially given a period of two months to complete the interrogation, however it was renewed three times because it was necessary to take many statements from both the prison staff and the Police as well as the people who participated in the party on the day of the escape and were eyewitnesses. Because the investigation also covered the lifer's old escort permits, people who had approved these permits were called and gave testimonies.

In their conclusion, the two criminal investigators make a series of findings and recommendations, which were studied by officials of the Legal Service and in combination with the whole range of licenses received, the appropriate instructions were given for further action. It is noted that a disciplinary investigation into the matter had already been ordered from the beginning in both the Police and the Prisons.

The new incident of a beating at a Paphos High School, with the victim being a 13-year-old student who was transported by ambulance to Paphos General Hospital, suffering a serious head injury, has caused shock. This is the same student who was attacked last October by a 15-year-old classmate, an incident that at the time had led to hospitalization at Makarios Hospital.

According to Alpha Cyprus, the perpetrators are said to be the same as those in the first episode. The police authorities have been informed and their members immediately went to the school for examinations and collection of testimonies.

It is recalled that after the first incident, the Police had issued an arrest warrant against the father of the 13-year-old, who had gone to school at the time and protested strongly, as, as it had been reported, he had not been informed by the Directorate about the events but by the older brother of the student.
