The Police intensifies and continues targeted operations, focusing on combating crime, protecting citizens and safeguarding public order, with a strong presence, especially during the night hours, at key points in all cities.
As part of the ongoing operations, last night, more than 760 checks were carried out, which resulted in four arrests. Property managers were also reported for violations related to the operation of premises, as well as drivers for various traffic violations.
In particular, two persons were arrested on the basis of warrants pending against them, a person working as a security guard without a licence, while the fourth arrest concerned failure to provide a sample for alcohol testing.
During the night, 53 premises were inspected and 17 complaints arose regarding the operation of a premises without a permit from the competent authority, the sale of alcoholic beverages and the use of loudspeakers without a license, smoking and the entry of a minor into a premises.
Of the 767 checks carried out during the night, 157 traffic complaints also emerged, of which 25 concerned drunk driving.
These operations are part of a broad, continuous and strengthened preventive plan of the Police, with increased police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action in all provinces, with the aim of preventing crime and strengthening the sense of security of citizens.

In the context of investigating relevant information and following a coordinated operation carried out yesterday in the province of Larnaca by members of the Anti-Drug Service - YKAN, two persons, aged 44 and 26, were arrested.
Specifically, around 10.00 Saturday morning, members of YKAN stopped a 44-year-old man for a check, while he left his residence and tried to enter his car.
In a search carried out by virtue of a court warrant, the following were found in the residence of the 44-year-old:
– About 42 grams of crystal methamphetamine substance
– 29 MDMA pills, known as "Ecstasy"
– About 14 grams of cannabis plant matter
– Two precision scales with traces of crystalline substance
– Various smoking utensils
– A sum of €240
A half-smoked cigarette, containing cannabis and manufactured tobacco, was found in the 44-year-old's vehicle.
During the police operation, a 26-year-old man went to the residence of the 44-year-old, with the intention of buying drugs, specifically methamphetamine.
The 44-year-old and 26-year-old were arrested for flagrante delicto, and were then re-arrested on the basis of court warrants.

A hefty fine was imposed on a hunter, who was found hunting today in a prohibited area.
According to information from Filenews, the hunter was located in the morning by members of the Game Service, in the area of Kampos in the province of Nicosia.
The same information states that the hunter was reported with the out-of-court fine of €3.300 for the crime of hunting in a prohibited area.
