A tragic incident occurred on Christmas Day in Nicosia, when shortly after midnight a fire broke out in a storage area on the roof of an apartment building. During the investigation of the scene, a charred body of unidentified identity was found.

According to the first information, members of the Police and the Fire Service immediately rushed to the scene, who proceeded to immediately extinguish the fire.

During the inspection of the area, a charred corpse was found inside the warehouse, the details of which have not been verified so far.

The legal autopsy is expected to be performed at a later stage, in order to determine the exact causes of death.

The case is being investigated by the TAE Nicosia, which will proceed today with further examinations and collection of evidence from the scene.

Around 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve, information was received by the Police that a group of young people was transporting useless materials at a roundabout in Limassol, possibly with the intention of starting a fire.

A Police patrol immediately went to the scene, where they found two outbreaks of fire within the roundabout. A group of young people was also spotted at the scene, who, as soon as they realized the presence of the Police, fled on foot in various directions.

A member of the patrol followed the young people and managed to stop one of them. As it turned out, he is a minor, who was arrested for a flagrante delicto.

The minor was taken to a Police Station, where he was interrogated and accused in writing, in the presence of his parents, a lawyer and a juvenile curator. He was then released to be summoned before a Court.

The Germasogeia Police Station is investigating the case.

The Police in Limassol proceeded to the spontaneous arrest of two persons, in connection with a case of illegal entry into a building, causing malicious damage, attempted theft and illegal possession of burglary tools.

Specifically, around 1.15 a.m. yesterday, information was received by the Police that two unknown persons were moving suspiciously on the roof of a building, in Limassol. Members of the Police went to the scene, where they found that the main entrance of the building was violated, while on the roof they found a 55-year-old and a 47-year-old woman, engaged in cutting copper pipes.

Burglaries and other power tools were found in the possession of the two. At the same time, damage was found to air conditioner cables and pipes, as well as to power lines that supply this building.

As a result, a 55-year-old and a 47-year-old woman were arrested for spontaneous offenses and taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

The Limassol Minor Offences Department is investigating the case.

A fire broke out in the early hours of Friday in a vehicle in Limassol.

According to the Police, around 5:00 in the morning, a fire was noticed in a vehicle owned by a 27-year-old man, which was parked in the parking lot of the apartment building where he lives, in Limassol.

Members of the Limassol Police Department immediately went to the scene and cordoned off the scene, as well as the Fire Service, who extinguished the fire.

The fire caused extensive damage mainly to the front of the vehicle, while preliminary examinations revealed that the fire in the vehicle was maliciously set.

The scene remains cordoned off while further examinations will be carried out today.

The TAE Limassol continues the examinations.

The Police had a dynamic presence on the streets and in key points of urban areas during the night, continuing their enhanced actions to protect citizens and ensure order.

During last night, targeted checks, patrols and interventions were carried out in areas of high crime. At the same time, information is used, in cooperation with other competent authorities, for the effective prevention and suppression of delinquent phenomena.

Specifically, more than 820 inspections were carried out, from which 102 traffic complaints emerged. 33 were driving under the influence of alcohol, while six drivers were found positive in a preliminary drug test.

As part of the investigation of traffic offenses, a total of six vehicles were detained, while at the same time four persons were arrested for offenses concerning, among other things, car theft, carrying knives and fine warrants.

These operations are part of a broad and constantly strengthened crime fighting plan, with increased police presence, targeted controls and immediate operational action in all provinces.

A traffic accident occurred in the early hours of the morning in Larnaca.

According to the Police, around 3:00 in the morning, while a 51-year-old man was driving his car on Faneromenis Avenue in Larnaca, he collided slightly in the back of a car driven by a 29-year-old. As a result of the collision, there were no injuries to the drivers, only minor material damage.

In a final alcohol test to which the 51-year-old was subjected, he was found positive with an indication of 76μg% instead of 22μg%, which is the limit allowed by law.

From a check of the 51-year-old's details, it was found that he was illegally residing in the territory of the Republic and was arrested.

The case is being investigated by the Larnaca Traffic Police.
