BMW AND KIA BID FOR NEW STATE CARS - HYUNDAI THE FIRST ELECTRIC CARS PURCHASED

Officials and others who have the right to use a state car will drive with BMW and KIA, since the relevant new tenders have been completed and it is expected in the coming days, if there is no appeal, that the relevant contracts will be signed.

Essentially, the state fleet will be strengthened with another 132 vehicles, which are electric and come in addition to the 24 all-electric Hyundai brand cars purchased in the previous period and granted in June 2025 to state officials.

Seven extra electrics for officials

In particular, the tender for seven electric vehicles has been completed and it is now awaited whether there will be any appeal to the Tender Review Authority that expires on December 18, 2025, so that the contracts can be signed. These are seven all-electric cars of the BMW brand, model i4 eDrive40. The offer amounts to €290,143 + VAT, including maintenance for five years.

125 for EOAs and Departments of the Public Sector

The second tender that has been completed, with the contract expected to be signed by the end of next week, concerns 125 pure electric cars of the KIA brand and the EV3 model. The value of the contract is €3,692,500, including maintenance for five years. Based on schedules, these cars are expected to be received in the first half of 2026.

85 of the 125 cars will be allocated for the needs of the local government and the Provincial Self-Government Organizations, while the rest will be allocated to Departments and Services of the Public Sector.

Already with 24 electricity ministers and other officials

It is recalled that in June 2025, CTC Automotive had delivered the first 24 electric cars for use by government officials.

The cars were Hyundai brand, Ioniq 6 model, with an expense of more than €1,2 million.

We continue our efforts to reduce pollutants

The Minister of Transport, Alexis Vafeadis, commented to "F" that the state, after the purchase of the first 24 electric cars, continues the efforts to electrify the government fleet, expanding this action to meet the needs of the Municipalities and the local government. The effort, as he added, is to reduce pollutants and protect the environment.

Their characteristics

The BMW i4 eDrive40 is an electric Gran Coupé with an 81 kWh battery and a range of 492–590 kilometers (WLTP). Energy consumption ranges between 16.1 and 19.1 kWh/100 km. The electric motor produces 340 hp and enables acceleration from 0–100 km/h in approximately 5.6 seconds. The model features rear drive, aerodynamic design and interior with modern assistance and infotainment systems, for everyday and travel use.

The KIA EV3 is an all-electric compact SUV, available with a 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh battery, offering a range of 436 to approximately 600 kilometers (WLTP). Energy consumption varies depending on the version, while the electric motor produces 204 horsepower and 283 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in about 7.5 seconds. The model features front-wheel drive, aerodynamic design and a modern, practical interior suitable for everyday use.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is an all-electric sedan, equipped with a 53 kWh or 77,4 kWh battery, offering a range of approximately 429 to 614 kilometers (WLTP), depending on the version. Energy consumption varies between configurations, while the electric motor produces between 151 to 325 horsepower, with torque reaching up to 605 Nm in the all-wheel drive versions.
