Strong reactions are recorded in Paphos by businessmen, employees and residents of a specific building complex with shops and offices in the heart of the shopping center for the situation that has prevailed for months with the living of foreigners in it.
As they complain, in this building on Athinas Street, conditions prevail that constitute a health bomb for tenants and employees there, but also a serious risk to public safety. In particular, it is complained that a shop on the ground floor has been illegally converted into a residence and even having been arranged internally so that it can be sublet to a large number of people who live there under miserable conditions in rooms-holes.

In addition, the employees of the building report, even the small room that houses the EAC meters has been violated and is a place to live for a homeless person, without any health infrastructure at all, without water and without electricity. This person lives there with a mattress on the ground and a chair, they point out, with the whole small room having been turned into a garbage dump by the food and drink packaging of its user, but also of other people whom he welcomes in the specific common area.
Its people maintain businesses in this apartment building complain that since last June, when the problem acquired large proportions, they have made intense and continuous representations to the Paphos EOA, the Paphos Municipality, the Police, the EAC, the Urban Planning and the Fire Brigade, but no substantial intervention has been carried out to date, they emphasize.
They speak of images of shame for society and the state, attributing responsibility to those in charge.
They also call for the immediate intervention of the social welfare services of the state in order for each competent authority in its field to assume responsibilities, in order to stop the situation that causes risks to the safety of everyone in the building and to the wider health situation.
