They may have been delayed due to the drought, but the rains of the last few days were enough to decorate the salt lake of Larnaca, since its most impressive visitors came again this year.

The first flamingos appeared a few days ago, but their numbers have increased in the last two days. The pink flamingos offer magical images to the visitors of the salt lake, a fact that was captured again this year by Louis Perentos, who provided relevant photographic material and video to Filenews.

The arrival of flamingos officially marks the beginning of the winter season, while for Larnaca it translates into an increase in traffic to the protected wetland.

It is noted that the flamingos that visit Cyprus are the largest of the six species that exist in the whole world. It is a nomadic species that travels very long distances in search of suitable habitats, i.e. shallow brackish lakes or salt marshes. As every year, the impressive flamingos will remain in our country until next spring and then continue their long journey.
