MAJOR ROAD WORKS


Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway

On the section from Larnaca Airport to the exit to Xylotymvos in both directions, from Tuesday 04/11/2025 to Friday 21/11/2025, daily except Sundays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, work will be carried out to cut, collect and remove grass, as well as to collect and remove useless objects from the shoulders and slopes of the motorway, including its junctions. During the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.

On the section of the motorway from the Pyla area to the Ayia Napa roundabout in both directions, during the period 05/11/2025–22/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and public holidays, work will be carried out on sections of the motorway on the central island to install emergency doors. During the work, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island will be closed, for a length of 100 meters at a time, at eight different points.

On the Ayia Napa-Larnaca motorway section, three (3) km. before the Rizoelia roundabout, from Monday 10/11/2025 until Friday 14/11/2025, between the hours of 08:30-17:00, excavation works will be carried out for the installation of an electronic variable message sign. During the works, the embankment will remain closed for a distance of approximately 600m.


Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway

On both directions of the motorway, including the junctions, from Tuesday 04/11/2025 to Friday 28/11/2025, daily except Sundays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, work will be carried out on the shoulders and slopes, for cutting/pruning and collecting acacias and other trees. During the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.


Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway

In both directions of the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway, in the section between the junction with the Limassol-Nicosia motorway and the junction with Athalassa Avenue, in Nicosia, from Monday 03/11/2025 until Thursday 27/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out by closing one lane at a time.

On a section of the motorway in both directions, at a distance of 4 km. from the Rizoelia roundabout, from Thursday 06/11/2025 until Wednesday 12/11/2025, between the hours of 08:30-17:00, excavation works will be carried out for the installation of two electronic variable message signs. During the works, at each point the embankment will remain closed for a distance of approximately 600m.

On the motorway, in the section between the Rizoelia roundabout and the junction with the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, in the direction towards Nicosia, during the period 10/11/2025-11/12/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between the hours of 09:30-13:30 at noon, works will be carried out periodically to remove, move and reinstall signs. During the works, the left lane will be closed for approximately 1000 meters and traffic will be diverted to the right lane.


Limassol-Nicosia Motorway

During the period 22/09/2025 – 10/12/2025, work will be carried out to improve the entrance lane to the motorway, from Parekklisia to Limassol. During the works, the shoulder of the motorway will be closed for a length of approximately 300 meters and traffic will proceed normally, without the cutting off of traffic lanes.

In both directions of the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, in the section between the junction with the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway and the junction with Athalassa Avenue, in Nicosia, from Monday 03/11/2025 until Thursday 27/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out by closing one lane at a time.

On sections of the Limassol-Nicosia and Limassol-Paphos motorways, between the Skarinou exit and the Petra tou Romiou exit in both directions, during the period 03/11/2025-20/11/2025, from 20:30 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, except Fridays and weekends, safety barrier replacement works will be carried out. During the works, the right lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway In the direction towards Limassol, in the section from Choirokitia to Zygi, from Thursday 06/11/2025 until Tuesday 11/11/2025, except Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, periodic maintenance works of the road surface will be carried out. During the works, the two lanes of the motorway in the direction towards Limassol will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate with two-way traffic.

On the motorway in the direction of Nicosia, from Monday 10/11/2025 until Thursday 13/11/2025, from 21:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road surface removal and resurfacing works will be carried out. During the works, all three lanes of the motorway in the direction of Limassol to Nicosia will be closed, immediately after the exit for Latsia-Geri (Megalo Alexandros Interchange) up to the GSP Roundabout. Traffic from Limassol to Nicosia will be diverted via the Megalo Alexandros Interchange to the old Nicosia-Limassol road and drivers will then be able to enter the motorway via the GSP Roundabout.

At the exit of the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, towards Parekklisia (Grigori Afxentiou Street), on Thursday 13/11/2025, between the hours of 21:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, the section of Grigoris Afxentiou Street from the motorway to its junction with the road to the Parekklisia underpass will be closed and traffic to and from Pyrgos-Parekklisia will be carried out through the Agios Tychonas and Monis interchanges and the Coastal Road.


Nicosia Perimeter Motorway

From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.

In both directions of the perimeter motorway, from Tuesday 04/11/2025 until Monday 10/11/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 17:00, excavation works will be carried out for the installation of two electronic variable message signs. During the works, at each point the embankment will remain closed for a distance of approximately 600m.

On the new perimeter motorway Lakatamia – Pera Chorio (A22) in both directions, on Friday 07/11/2025 from 22:00 at night until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, road cleaning works will be carried out with a sweeper. During the works, the sweeper will be constantly accompanied by two (2) vehicles with traffic lights and a police patrol car, for the safety of both workers and other road users.


Limassol Bypass

From Monday 13/10/2025 until Tuesday 18/11/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00, felling of burnt trees will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the Koilani – Vouni road. During the works, one lane of traffic, approximately 100m long, will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.

In the direction towards Paphos, on the section of the Limassol bypass road, between the Germasogeia roundabout and the Agios Athanasios roundabout, on Wednesday 12/11/2025, from 21:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, asphalt pavement maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, both lanes of the Paphos bypass road will be closed for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic towards Paphos will be carried out via Kolonaki and Agios Athanasios avenues, as well as via the Agios Athanasios interchange.


Limassol-Paphos Motorway

On sections of the Limassol-Paphos and Nicosia-Limassol motorways, between the Skarinou exit and the Petra tou Romiou exit in both directions, during the period 03/11/2025-20/11/2025, from 20:30 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, except Fridays and weekends, safety barrier replacement works will be carried out. During the works, the right lane of the motorway will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and the traffic police will a is diverted to the adjacent traffic lane.

In the Limassol-Paphos motorway tunnel, between the hours of 08:00-19:00, maintenance work on electromechanical installations will be carried out by the Department of Electromechanical Services, in the direction towards Limassol during the period 10/11/2025-14/11/2025 and in the direction towards Paphos during the period 17/11/2025-21/11/2025. During the works, the tunnel will be closed in one direction and traffic before the motorway tunnel will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic.

On the highway in the direction from Limassol to Paphos, from Monday 10/11/2025 until Friday 14/11/2025, from 08:00 to 15:00, work will be carried out on the central island. During the work, the right lane will be partially closed and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. Temporary signalling for a mobile construction site on the highway will be used.


Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia-Akaki Motorway

On the motorway in both directions, towards Nicosia and towards Akaki, from Monday 10/11/2025 until Wednesday 26/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 09:00 in the morning until 14:00 in the afternoon, works will be carried out by the Forestry Department to take care of the vegetation on the central island. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections and traffic will be diverted to the left lane, at a distance of approximately 2 km. approximately in both directions.

On the Nicosia-Anthoupolis section of the motorway, at the exit from the motorway, towards the Archangelou interchange, noise barrier installation works will be carried out on Wednesday 12/11/2025, from 21:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day. During the works, the exit from the Archangelou interchange towards Morphou Avenue, Makedonitissa, will remain closed to traffic. Drivers towards Makedonitissa should use the previous exit towards Alexandrou Panagouli Street and then via Stadiou Street to enter Morphou Avenue.


Nicosia District

In Nicosia, on Nikis-Akropoleos Avenue, near the junction with 25th March Street, from Monday 03/11/2025 and for a period of approximately two (2) months, works will be carried out to widen part of Nikis-Akropoleos Avenue, as well as to construct new sidewalks.

In Nicosia, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between its junction with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kallipoleos Avenue, from 30/06/2025 to 24/11/2025, works will be carried out to repair, maintain and reinforce the existing culvert. During the works, a section of one lane of Digeni Akrita Avenue in the direction of Pallouriotissa/Kaimakli will be closed sequentially for 50m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In addition, both lanes in this direction will be closed during the days when concreting work is being carried out and traffic will be diverted via alternative routes. Separate announcements will be issued for these cases to better inform the public.

On Digeni Akrita Avenue, the underground works between the intersections with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Olympias Street have been completed 2 weeks earlier than planned. Therefore, from 06:00 on Monday, October 6, 2025 until 06:00 on Friday, November 14, 2025, the next phase of repair, maintenance and reinforcement of the existing culvert will be carried out on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between Olympias and Kleomenous Streets. During the works, the lanes of Digeni Akrita Avenue from Nicosia to Palouriotissa will be closed to traffic, between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kleomenous Street. The right-hand direction towards Nikodimou Mylona Street will remain open. Drivers from Nicosia to Palouriotissa are advised to use Kritis, Kypranoros, Androkleous streets and then Stasandrou/Pindarou streets and Stasinou avenue for their journeys. To get to Kallipoleos street, drivers are advised to use Nikodimou Mylona street. To get back to Digeni Akrita, drivers are advised to use Nikodimou Mylona, ​​Damaskinou, Olympia, Eressou, Kallipoleos, Ifigenias, Dervenia, Efthimio Chatzipetrou and Georgiou Griva Digeni streets. Traffic heading from Palouriotissa to Makariou avenue will not be affected by the works.

Also on Digeni Akrita Avenue, in Nicosia, from Thursday 30 October 2025, work has begun on the fourth and final phase of repair, maintenance and reinforcement of the existing culvert under the avenue, between Kleomeno Streets.   and the traffic light-controlled intersection with Kallipoleos Avenue, which are estimated to be completed on the morning of Friday, December 19, 2025. In the direction from Palouriotissa to Nicosia, the right-hand lane towards Kleomenous Street will be closed to traffic police. In the direction towards Pallouriotissa, Digeni Akrita Avenue will be open to traffic, as smooth traffic regulation has been ensured with the use of a temporary traffic lane. Traffic in the direction from Palouriotissa to Archbishop Makarios III Avenue will not be affected by the works.

In Lakatamia and Strovolos, also in the context of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Tseriou avenues, from Tuesday 27/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 6 months, the light-controlled intersection of Tseriou avenue with Theofilou Georgiadis street is being abolished and part of Theofilou Georgiadis street will be temporarily closed to traffic, up to its intersection with Ergatikattas street. All movements from Theofilou Georgiadis street to and from Tseriou avenue will be made via the temporary light-controlled intersection with Vasilissis Amalias street.

In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.

As part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, the following traffic regulations will be in place from 24/04/2025 to 12/12/2025:

Kalavryton Street at its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street to get to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street to get to Larnaca Avenue.

Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to get to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Street area who wish to travel towards Larnaco Avenue are requested to use Kantaras Street, while those wishing to travel towards the Sopaz roundabout are requested to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose.


Limassol District

Asphalt pavement maintenance works will be carried out on the Parekklisia-Eptagonia road, on Sunday 09/11/2025, from 07:00 to 16:00. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed at any time, approximately 100m in length, and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.

On the Trimiklini-Platron road, in Pera Pedi, from Monday 10/11/2025 until Friday 14/11/2025, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, asphalt pavement maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed at any time, approximately 100m long, and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signaling.

On the Trimiklini-Platron road, during the period 17/11/2025-28/11/2025, between the hours of 08:00-15:00, works will be carried out by the Forestry Department. During the works, a section of the road, from its junction with the main Limassol-Troodos road, to its junction with Archangelou Michael Street, will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted through Archiepiskopou Makariou III and Archangelou Michael Streets.


Larnaca District

The Pano Lefkara – Kato Dry – Vavla road will remain closed to traffic, due to the reconstruction works of the retaining walls before the entrance to the Community of Kato Dry, which will continue until Wednesday 19/11/2025. During the works, drivers coming from the Nicosia-Limassol motorway heading to Kato Drys should use the Choirokoitia exit and then via the Choirokoitia-Vavla-Ora road and through the Vavla Community to reach their destination. The same route should be followed by drivers wishing to reach the Monastery of Agios Minas, which is located between Vavla and Kato Drys, in view of the festival organized on the occasion of the feast of the Great Martyr on November 11. Accordingly, drivers from Lefkara to Vavla should follow a route via the Nicosia-Limassol motorway and then via the Choirokoitia-Vavla-Ora road.

In the Lefkara-Vavatsinia road, on Monday 10/11/2025, Tuesday 11/11/2025 and Thursday 13/11/2025, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, construction works of manholes will be carried out by a private telecommunications company. During the works, part of the shoulder of the road will be closed and traffic will not be affected.
