MAJOR ROAD WORKS


Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway


On the section of the motorway from the Pyla area to the Ayia Napa roundabout in both directions, during the period 05/11/2025–22/12/2025, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and public holidays, work will be carried out on sections of the motorway on the central island to install emergency doors. During the work, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island will be closed, for a length of 100 meters at a time, at eight different points.

On the section of the motorway from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout, from Monday 24/11/2025 to Thursday 27/11/2025, between the hours of 08:30–15:30, watering works will be carried out on the central islands by the Department of Forestry. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway will be closed in sections in one direction, 1.5 km long at a time.

During the period from Monday 24/11/2025 to Friday 19/12/2025, daily except Sundays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, work will be carried out to cut/prune and collect acacias and other trees from the shoulders and slopes along the entire length of the Larnaca Airport – Ayia Napa motorway, from Larnaca Airport to the exit to Xylotymvos in both directions, including its junctions. During the execution of the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.


Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway


On both directions of the motorway, including the junctions, from Tuesday 04/11/2025 to Friday 28/11/2025, daily except Sundays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, work will be carried out on the shoulders and slopes, for cutting/pruning and collecting acacias and other trees. During the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.

On the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway section, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou, from Monday 24/11/2025 to Thursday 27/11/2025, between the hours of 08:30–15:30, irrigation works will be carried out on the central islands by the Forestry Department. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway will be closed in sections from one direction, at a length of 1.5 km each time.

On Thursday 27/11/2025 and Friday 28/11/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, shoulder restoration works will be carried out on the Kofinou – Larnaca motorway. During the works, the left lane of the motorway will be partially closed, at a distance of approximately 1.5 kilometers, and traffic will be diverted to the right lane.


Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway


In both directions of the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway, in the section between the junction with the Limassol-Nicosia motorway and the junction with Athalassa Avenue, in Nicosia, from Monday 03/11/2025 until Thursday 27/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out by closing one lane at a time.

On the motorway, in the section between the Rizoelia roundabout and the junction with the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, in the direction towards Nicosia, during the period 10/11/2025-11/12/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between the hours of 09:30-13:30 at noon, works will be carried out periodically to remove, move and reinstall signs. During the works, the left lane will be closed for approximately 1000 meters and traffic will be diverted to the right lane.

On the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway section, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the Nisou exit, from Monday 24/11/2025 to Thursday 27/11/2025, between the hours of 08:30–15:30, irrigation works will be carried out on the central islands by the Department of Forestry. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway from one direction will be closed in sections, 1.5 km long at a time.

During the period 25/11/2025 – 28/11/2025, between the hours of 07:30 – 15:00, works will be carried out to clean paved ruts on the shoulders of sections of the Larnaca – Nicosia motorway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Athienou in both directions, including its junctions. During the execution of the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.

On Saturday 29/11/2025 and on Sunday 30/11/2025, between the hours of 06:30 – 13:30, work will be carried out to install – replace single-sided reflectors on the central island of the Nicosia – Larnaca motorway (A2) and on the central lane of the Nicosia – Akaki motorway (A9) in both directions.


Limassol-Nicosia motorway


During the period 22/09/2025 – 10/12/2025, work will be carried out to improve the entrance lane to the motorway, from Parekklisia to Limassol. During the work, the shoulder of the motorway will be closed for a length of approximately 300 meters and traffic will proceed normally, without the cutting off of traffic lanes.

In both directions of the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, in the section between the junction with the Larnaca-Nicosia motorway and the junction with Athalassa Avenue, in Nicosia, from Monday 03/11/2025 until Thursday 27/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out by closing one lane at a time.

From Tuesday 18/11/2025 until Monday 24/11/2025, daily except weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 17:00, excavation works will be carried out for the installation of electronic variable message signs, on a section of the Limassol – Nicosia motorway (A1) in both directions, at the height of the Kornos refinery. During the execution of the works, in the above section, the embankment will remain closed for a distance of approximately 600m.

On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway in both directions, in a section one (1) km. after the Agios Tychonas exit, from Thursday 20/11/2025 until Friday 28/11/2025, between the hours of 08:30 -17:00, daily except weekends, excavation works will be carried out for the installation of electronic variable message signs. During the works, in the above section, the shoulder will remain closed for a distance of 600m.

On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, in the section from the Viomichaniki Idalion exit to the Pera Chorio Nisou exit, in the direction towards Limassol, during the period 20/11/2025-25/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between the hours of 21:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road surface removal and resurfacing works will be carried out. During the works, all three lanes of the motorway in the direction towards Limassol will be closed for a length of approximately 3km and traffic will be diverted to one lane in the opposite direction, which will operate with two-way traffic. Also, the exit from Idalion Industrial Estate towards Larnaca / Limassol will be closed and traffic will be diverted via the old B1 Nicosia - Limassol road and then via the Agia Varvara and Alambra exits respectively. Also, the entrance / exit to and from Pera Chorio Nisou towards Larnaca / Limassol will be closed and traffic will be diverted via the old B1 Nicosia - Limassol road and then via the Agia Varvara and Alambra exits respectively.

On the section from Skarinou to Germasogeia of the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, on Wednesday 26/11/2025 from 20:00 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. the following day, waste collection works will be carried out from the central island. During the works, the right lane in the direction of Limassol will be partially closed and traffic will be diverted to the left lane and traffic will be managed with the mobile construction site system.

From Tuesday 25/11/2025 until Thursday 4/12/2025, except Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road marking works (lines) will be carried out on the Limassol - Nicosia motorway (A1), in the direction of Nicosia. During the works, one lane of traffic will be partially closed at any time for a length of approximately 500m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane.

On Saturday 22/11/2025 and Sunday 23/11/2025, between the hours of 07:00 – 14:30, improvement works will be carried out on Nikis – Acropolis Avenue in the Municipality of Nicosia, on the sidewalk to the right of the intersection with 25th March Street. During the execution of the works, the area in front of the building will remain closed to the public, who are encouraged to use the sidewalk opposite.

On Wednesday 26/11/2025 and Thursday 27/11/2025, from 21:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, works will be carried out to remove and resurface the road surface on the Limassol – Nicosia road in the direction of Nicosia, at the level of the exit to Kotsiati up to the exit to Viomichaniki Idali. All three lanes of traffic will be closed during the work.

On the road towards Nicosia for a length of approximately 3km, traffic will be diverted to one lane in the opposite traffic stream which will operate with two-way traffic. Also, due to the above works, the entrance/exit to and from Kotsiatis will be closed and traffic will be diverted via the next exit of Viomichaniki Idalion and then via the old B1 Nicosia – Limassol road. In any case, during the execution of the works, there will be appropriate temporary signage for the smooth flow of traffic.


Nicosia Perimeter Motorway


From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction.

Reflector washing works will be carried out on the central lane of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway in both directions on Sunday 23/11/2025. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections and the works will be carried out using the mobile workshop method.


Limassol Bypass


From Monday 24/11/2025 until Friday 28/11/2025 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., asphalt pavement maintenance works will be carried out on the Limassol – Troodos road (B8), in the Lania – Trimiklini section. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections at any time for a length of approximately 100 m and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.


Limassol-Paphos Motorway


On the motorway in both directions towards Paphos and towards Limassol, from Thursday 20/11/2025 until Thursday 18/12/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, cleaning works will be carried out on the shoulders of the road, including the exits. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes.

On a section of the Limassol-Paphos motorway in both directions, at a distance of one (1) km after the Erimi exit, from Monday 24/11/2025 until Friday 28/11/2025, between the hours of 08:30 -17:00, excavation work will be carried out for the installation of electronic variable message signs. During the works, in the above section, the embankment will remain closed for a distance of 600m.


Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia-Akaki Motorway


On the motorway in both directions, towards Nicosia and towards Akaki, from Monday 10/11/2025 until Wednesday 26/11/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 09:00 in the morning until 14:00 in the afternoon, works will be carried out by the Forestry Department to take care of the vegetation on the central island. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections and traffic will be diverted to the left lane, at a distance of approximately 2km. approximately in both directions.

Reflector washing works will be carried out on the central lane of the Nicosia-Akaki motorway in both directions on Sunday 23/11/2025. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections and the works will be carried out using the mobile workshop method.

From Monday 24/11/2025 until Friday 28/11/2025 from 09:00am until 14:00pm, horizontal marking works will be carried out on the Nicosia-Denia motorway in the direction of Denia, from the Anthoupolis interchange to the Kokkinotrimithia interchange. This specific work on the motorway will be carried out in sections with one lane closed at a time. Traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane of the road. In any case, during the execution of the works, there will be appropriate temporary signage for the smooth flow of traffic.

On Saturday 29/11/2025 and Sunday 30/11/2025, between the hours of 06:30 – 13:30, work will be carried out to install – replace single-sided reflectors on the central island of the Nicosia – Larnaca motorway (A2) and on the central lane of the Nicosia – Akaki motorway (A9) in both directions.


Nicosia District


In Nicosia, on Nikis – Acropolis Avenue, opposite the junction with 25th March Street, from Monday 03/11/2025 and for a period of approximately two (2) months, work will be carried out for the widening of part of Nikis-Acropolis Avenue, as well as the construction of new sidewalks.

In Nicosia, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kallipoleos Avenue, from 30/06/2025 to 24/11/2025, repair, maintenance and reinforcement works of the existing culvert will be carried out. During the works, part of one lane of Digeni Akrita Avenue in the direction of Pallouriotissa/Kaimakli will be closed sequentially for approximately 50m. and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane. In addition, both traffic lanes in this direction will be closed during the days when concreting works are carried out and traffic will be diverted via alternative routes. Separate announcements will be issued for these cases to better inform the public.

Also, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, in Nicosia, from Thursday 30 October 2025, the works of the 4th and final phase of repair, maintenance and reinforcement of the existing culvert under the avenue, between Kleomenos Street and the photo-controlled intersection with Kallipoleos Avenue, have begun, which are estimated to be completed on the morning of Friday 19 December 2025. In the direction from Palouriotissa to Nicosia, the right-turn lane towards Kleomenos Street will be closed to traffic. In the direction towards Pallouriotissa, Digeni Akrita Avenue will be open to traffic, since the smooth regulation of traffic has been ensured with the use of a temporary traffic lane. Traffic from Palouriotissa to Archbishop Makariou III Avenue will not be affected by the works.

In Lakatamia and Strovolos, also in the context of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Tseriou Avenues, from Tuesday 27/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 6 months, the traffic light-controlled intersection of Tseriou Avenue with Theofilou Georgiadis Street will be abolished and part of Theofilou Georgiadis Street will be temporarily closed to traffic, up to its intersection with Ergatikattas Street. All movements from Theofilou Georgiadis Street to and from Tseriou Avenue will be made via the temporary traffic light-controlled intersection with Vasilissis Amalias Street.

In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.

As part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, the following traffic regulations will be in place from 24/04/2025 to 12/12/2025:

Kalavryton Street at its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street to get to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street to get to Larnaca Avenue.

Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to get to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Street area who want to travel towards Larnakos Avenue are asked to use Kantaras Street, while those who want to travel towards the Sopaz roundabout are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose.

On Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and parts of Tseriou Avenue, in Strovolos, from Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 12:00 noon, as part of the construction works, a section of Agios Dimitrianou Street, approximately 250m long (at its connection point with Ippokratous Avenue), in Lakatamia, will be closed to traffic for the construction of a Roundabout. During the works, traffic will be diverted through Lysis, Lefkonikou and Neapoleos streets.


Limassol District


On the Trimiklini-Platra road, during the period 17/11/2025-28/11/2025, between the hours of 08:00-15:00, the Forestry Department will carry out works. During the works, a section of the road, from its junction with the main Limassol-Troodos road, to its junction with Archangelou Michail street, will be closed to traffic and traffic will be diverted through Archiepiskopou Makariou III and Archangelou Michail streets.

On Sunday 23/11/2025, from 07:00 to 16:00, asphalt pavement maintenance works will be carried out on a section of the Parekklisia - Eptagonia road (E109). During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections at any time, approximately 100m long, and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signalling.
