Low-level helicopter flights were reported late yesterday afternoon over Paphos General Hospital, causing concern among residents of the area.
Citizens who noticed the intense activity contacted the Police, who informed them that this was a planned exercise with a scenario of airlifting a patient to the Paphos General Hospital heliport.
The exercise was being carried out within the framework of the operational readiness of both the JRC and the rescue helicopter crews with the aim of testing and evaluating search and rescue procedures using a helicopter.
