The fire that broke out at 10:30 pm last night in the triangle of the communities of Tala, Kissonerga, Akoursos, near the Mavrokolympos dam, was brought under control in the early hours of the morning.
The fire alerted the Fire Service, which sent strong ground forces to the area, before the fire front approached residential areas. The fire was developing at a point between Tala - Kissonerga and was burning dry grass and wild vegetation, while the work of the firefighting forces was hampered by the strong winds that blew last night in the province of Paphos.
Until midnight on Monday, the flames were moving outside the residential area, while in the early morning hours the fire brigades managed to bring it under control. Fire brigade forces remained in the area until this time to prevent flare-ups and for the final extinguishing this morning.
