A high-pressure ridge will affect the region through roughly the end of this week, with increased sunshine and some high cloud passages the main weather features, whilst no rain is expected through at least Sunday, according to a kitasweather report.
An easterly airflow will affect the region, favouring the transport of dust from the Middle East from Wednesday onwards, whilst a warm air mass from the Middle East will begin extending towards the region, peaking towards the end of this week and bringing exceptionally high temperatures for the season, with the mercury reaching around 28-29°C inland and on the coast during the second half of this week.
Today, Monday, a high-pressure ridge is affecting the region. The day began with sunshine generally across the island and some local cloud in the north and east, whilst increased cloud over the sea is producing a few isolated showers.
For the rest of the day, showers over the sea will remain confined there, with mainly clear conditions expected on the island with some local cloud, whilst locally increased cloud will develop in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas and western parts during midday and afternoon.
Temperatures will rise slightly to settle slightly above normal seasonal levels, reaching around 23 to 26 degrees Celsius in inland plains and coastal areas, and around 10 degrees Celsius at Troodos.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, the high-pressure ridge will continue to affect the region. The weather will be initially sunny, whilst a few local clouds will develop in the mountains during midday and afternoon, mainly in western parts of the Troodos range and further west.
A light to nearly moderate easterly airflow will blow, reaching moderate in windward areas.
Temperatures will rise slightly to settle around 2-3 degrees Celsius above normal seasonal levels, reaching around 23 to 26 degrees Celsius in inland plains, around 24 to 27 degrees Celsius on the coast, and around 12 degrees Celsius at Troodos.
On Wednesday, the high-pressure ridge will continue to affect the region, with initially sunny weather, whilst a few high clouds will be observed during midday and afternoon.
A light to nearly moderate easterly airflow will blow, reaching moderate in windward areas, whilst thin dust will be suspended in the atmosphere.
Temperatures will rise slightly further to settle around 2-4 degrees Celsius above normal seasonal levels, reaching around 24 to 27 degrees Celsius in inland plains and coastal areas, and around 14 degrees Celsius at Troodos.
On Thursday, the high-pressure ridge will continue to affect the region, with mainly clear weather again expected with a few high clouds.
A light to nearly moderate easterly airflow will blow, reaching moderate in windward areas, whilst thin dust will be suspended in the atmosphere.
Temperatures will rise further to settle around 3-6 degrees Celsius above normal seasonal levels, reaching around 25 to 28 degrees Celsius in inland plains, around 26 to 29 degrees Celsius on the coast, and around 15 degrees Celsius at Troodos.
On Friday, the region remains under the influence of the high-pressure ridge, with mainly clear weather expected with a few high clouds. Dust will be suspended in the atmosphere.
Temperatures will rise slightly further to settle around 4-7 degrees Celsius above normal seasonal levels, reaching around 26 to 29 degrees Celsius in inland plains and coastal areas, and around 16 degrees Celsius at Troodos.
Over the weekend, no change is expected in the weather pattern, with sunshine and intervals of high cloud, whilst the mercury will remain at exceptionally high levels for the season, with maximum temperatures around 29 (+/-1) degrees Celsius.
Dust will continue to be suspended in the atmosphere.
