CYPRUS AND CHINA SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF CO-OPERATION ON AGGREGATES

A new chapter of cooperation between Cyprus and China is opening for the aggregates industry and Cypriot entrepreneurship, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Cyprus Quarries Association and the China Aggregates Association. The agreement was signed in the context of the event "Building Bridges for the Future of the Aggregates Industry – Cyprus and China", which was held under the auspices of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

According to an announcement by the Pancyprian Association of Quarries, the memorandum sets as its main objectives the promotion of sustainable and innovative practices, the strengthening of competitiveness and business extroversion, the exchange of know-how and technological progress and the creation of new business and investment opportunities.

Also, the memorandum "is expected to contribute substantially to the sustainable development of the aggregates industry and to the strengthening of the presence of Cyprus on the international industrial and business map".

As the announcement states, "this cooperation enhances the prospect of upgrading the aggregates industry in Cyprus and creates new opportunities for business development".

It adds that "China, which produces nearly 40% of the world's aggregate production, is an international benchmark thanks to its advanced environmental practices, use of modern technology, and high health and safety standards."
