Filenews
The developments in the much-praised case of the murder of Stavros Demosthenous in Limassol are rapid, with the authorities proceeding to arrest a 31-year-old Georgian who is allegedly involved in the action of the main suspects. The 31-year-old was brought before the Limassol District Court on Sunday morning, where a request for his detention was examined. His lawyer, Alexandros Clerides, did not object and the Court ordered his detention for a period of eight days.
The suspect seems to have played an important but auxiliary role, since he allegedly hid the clothes of a 28-year-old Georgian, who is considered a key person in the case and is said to be the driver of both the motorcycle used in the murder and the stolen van.
The arrest of the two Georgian wanted persons in Thessaloniki paved the way for new revelations. During searches at the home of one of the two, a Mercedes car, with Cypriot license plates, was found, which belongs to the 31-year-old suspect. During the examination of the vehicle by the Greek authorities, documents were found related to movements to and from the occupied territories, both in the name of the 31-year-old and the 28-year-old Georgian.
Testimony obtained by the Cypriot authorities states that the day after the murder, the vehicle in question crossed into the occupied territories through the Agios Dometios roadblock in Nicosia. This evidence was reinforced through the Bi-communal Contact Office, as they recorded the entry of the two men into the occupied territories with the vehicle, as well as their boarding on a ship that departed from the illegal port of Kyrenia on October 19 bound for Turkey.
At the same time, a person who has repeatedly cooperated with the Police in the past provided key information, stating that he saw the 28-year-old Georgian traveling to Greece through the occupied territories in the 31-year-old's car. The same source revealed that the suspect, after the murder, hid the clothes worn by the 28-year-old in his home.
Based on this information, an arrest warrant was issued and the 31-year-old was taken into custody. When he was informed about the reasons for his arrest and his rights, he limited himself to answering: "I don't know anything".
During his oral interrogation at the Limassol Police Department, the suspect claimed that on October 18 he went to the occupied territories alone in his car and from there travelled by ship to Turkey, but without remembering which port he disembarked at. According to his allegations, he then drove to Thessaloniki for business reasons, where - as he said - he met the 28-year-old Georgian by chance, whom he described as his childhood friend. There he allegedly saw the second wanted person.
During his written interrogation, the 31-year-old said in each question that he "will tell the Court what he has to say".
TAE investigators continue the investigation intensively, while it is considered certain that new evidence will emerge
YKAN (Limassol District Unit) is investigating the case.
Update - The 31-year-old suspect and cousin of the two Georgians involved in the murder of Stavros Demosthenous will appear before the Limassol District Court shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Sunday (2/11). The cycle of arrests, as it seems, has not closed, as the new evidence leads the investigations even closer to those involved and, in particular, to the person who allegedly killed the 49-year-old businessman.
The 31-year-old suspect, according to the Police, has so far a minor role in the case, as he is said to be the person who transported the 28-year-old A.Z. to the airport of the occupied territories, in order to escape from Cyprus a few hours after the crime was committed.
As reported in a previous report by Filenews, one of the two Georgians is considered to be the person driving the perpetrators' motorcycle and the stolen van, while his cousin is said to be the driver of the BMW brand vehicle, which was recorded in the area of Agios Tychonas, where the two perpetrators went to hide the motorcycle and escape. In fact, the latter is placed in the frame of the case as the person who allegedly fled the two perpetrators.
The investigators of the TAE Limassol secured testimony according to which the 28-year-old Georgian A.Z., on October 17 or 18, a few hours after the murder, was looking for his travel documents, informing his relatives that he was going to travel to Greece.
In addition, a reliable Police informant reportedly reported that the 28-year-old confided in him a few days after the murder that he participated in the crime, receiving a corresponding fee and performing the duties of a driver. According to the same testimony, their escape took place from the area of Agios Tychonas, with the help of his cousin, who transported them in a specific vehicle. In fact, the 28-year-old, allegedly one of the perpetrators, was informed by the publications about the location of the motorcycle and the hat and allegedly expressed concerns about the progress of the investigations.
Five people are already in custody as suspects in the case. They are the 44-year-old former football player and owner of the motorcycle, the two men aged 59 and 30 who allegedly participated in its purchase, as well as a 30-year-old convict who allegedly ordered the purchase from his cell in the Central Prison. In addition, a 51-year-old man of Greek origin is involved, who is connected to the stolen Mitsubishi Colt which was located 3 days before the attack and in which jerry cans with flammable matter and his DNA were found.

Once again, since the beginning of this school year, there has been vandalism in a specific school in Larnaca, with the President of the Larnaca School Board, Gianna Nikolaou, stating in her post that "this is how bravado manifests itself..."
According to her, the offenders jumped the bars "in broad daylight". As he states, the Police are aware of the incident, however the offenders continue undisturbed.
In fact, guards have also been placed at the school. According to Ms. Nikolaou, their hours are expected to increase, while cameras will be installed in a few days.
See her post and the pictures from the school:
This is how bravado is manifested....
I don't know for what time from the beginning of the school year they write on the walls of this school and break various things. And every time the School Board runs to erase them and correct the damages.. In broad daylight to enter schools, it goes without saying that they jump over the railings (many times the height can reach 3-4 meters) at the risk of their lives.
How far will this situation go?
The Police are back at the school for the necessary procedures.
It is a great shame to write abusive messages about teachers.
The photos were altered for obvious reasons.
We have placed guards in this school and it seems that we will increase the hours and in a very few days cameras will be installed.
