Filenews

A conversation on a specific app revealed the horrific secret of a man, who was arrested by the Cypriot Police on suspicion of offenses of child sexual abuse and possession of pornographic material. The suspect was brought before the Court, which ordered his detention for seven days.

The case brought to light by Filenews could be a crime movie scenario with dark revelations. It all started in the middle of the summer, when a US detective was undercover involved in an investigation into crimes against children.

Through this online application, the policewoman, using a pseudonym, managed to convince the suspect that she was communicating with a mother of two minors. Then, he began to reveal the heinous acts he allegedly committed with his minor daughter.

From the revelations made, the investigation of the case began, with the authorities proceeding with actions to locate the suspect's account and analyze his details. The same information states that the Police, in addition to the information received from the US, also received a signal from Europol as conversations were detected with other persons in addition to the undercover police officer.

From the examinations carried out through e-mails and devices, a 45-year-old foreigner was identified as their owner. Further investigations led to the identification of his place of residence and last Sunday, the members of the Electronic Crime Branch proceeded to arrest him. In a search carried out at his home, mobile phones and laptops were found and received, which will be subject to forensic examinations. The 45-year-old was brought before a Court today, which, in a closed-door procedure, ordered his detention for seven days.

The general issue of the purchase of real estate by third-country nationals in Cyprus comes to the fore again, this time on the occasion of criminal prosecution against a Russian former senior state official.

The person in question is Vadim Plotnikov, who served as Minister of Health of the Perm Administrative Region, a city in western Russia near the Ural Mountains.

Federal authorities believe that Plotnikov is in possession of an apartment in Larnaca, which is under investigation. Based on what was reported by a representative of the regional office of the prosecutor, in the context of a relevant court procedure, it is believed that the apartment is part of a bribery case.

In fact, the former Minister of Health of the Perm region will be under house arrest until the beginning of January, and this is in order to ensure that he does not flee justice.

According to a local Perm newspaper (Kommersant-Prikamye), a spokesman for the prosecution said before the Court that "Plotnikov could not have bought an apartment in Larnaca, Cyprus" and that "his income was examined in relation to the value of the property".

Vadim Plotnikov, who headed the Ministry of Health of the Perm Region from 2016 to 2017 and also served as chief physician at an oncology and tuberculosis clinic, is accused of accepting bribes.

According to the investigative workDmitry Kondrasov transferred to him for use a plot of land and a house worth 17,6 million rubles. This amount reaches €185,000. In return, Plotnikov allegedly promised the businessman favourable treatment during the procedures for concluding contracts aimed at supplying medicines and equipment.

What the prosecutor's office said

All of the above came to light in the context of a court proceeding. Specifically, the decision of a first-instance judiciary to place Plotnikov under house arrest was appealed by his defense attorney.

The spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office in the Perm region, Anna Kisel, putting forward her own positions, emphasized that Plotnikov's official income would not allow him to buy such an expensive property. He claimed that his ownership was confirmed by a certificate provided by officials of the Directorate of Economic Security and Anti-Corruption of the Central Directorate of the Ministry of Interior for the Perm Region.

The counter-argument

Plotnikov claims that he is not the owner of the apartment, but simply rents it from Kondrasov. He stated that he does not have documents confirming his ownership and, therefore, the apartment does not legally belong to him under Cypriot law. He stressed that there is no evidence to show that the purchase and sale of the property has been completed.

A criminal case was filed against Plotnikov at the beginning of this month, while last Wednesday (12/11) the Sverdlovsk District Court of Perm ordered his house arrest until January 82026.

The investigative work

According to what emerges from the investigative work, Vadim Plotnikov received the bribe to serve Kontrasov's business interests, while the former served as the chief physician of the Perm oncology center.

The 22-year-old is alleged to be the perpetrator of the attempted murder of the 47-year-old against whom shots were fired, however he managed to escape on a bicycle without being injured.

Draconian security measures were taken in the Larnaca court and only journalists were allowed to enter the room, while the suspect was wearing a bulletproof vest. The affidavit of the sergeant of the Larnaca Police Department, Manolis Manolis, was not read before the court, while the suspect's defense attorney Christos Poutziouris did not object to his detention.

The suspect faces 6 offenses of conspiracy to commit a felony, attempted murder, theft, theft, possession of a firearm and possession of explosives. The suspect, according to information from Filenews, was allegedly connected through the testimony of a third person secured by the Larnaca TAE.

Specifically, he allegedly reported to the person in question that he is the perpetrator of the attempted murder against the 47-year-old and that he had previously followed him with different vehicles. The police, meanwhile, detected closed surveillance circuits that recorded the escape course of the action after the attempted murder.

On this route, a collar that allegedly fell from the perpetrator was found in which DNA was found and tests are being carried out to determine if it matches that of the 22-year-old. The Police also carried out searches in the morning at the camp where SYOP serves in the province of Nicosia, without finding anything. The suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon by virtue of a court warrant in a parking lot.

At his home in Larnaca, where extensive searches were carried out. In the house of SYOP, according to the Police, various items were located and confiscated, including a loaded pistol, which will be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it is related to any criminal activity.

It is recalled that the 47-year-old on the morning of Thursday, July 31, as he was cycling from the Industrial Area of Dromolaxia to the Krasa area, heard shots, which he initially thought came from hunters. When he realized that the target was himself, according to what he allegedly reported to the Police, he began to develop speed and then saw the perpetrator, who was wearing a helmet, flee on foot and leave the scooter he was driving behind.

Around 11:30 in the morning, the target of the attempted murder, who was not injured, notified the Police on his own. The area was cordoned off and drones and a helicopter were deployed to locate the perpetrator, who, however, managed to escape. More than 10 shell casings were collected from the scene, while other evidence left behind by the perpetrator was sent for scientific examinations.

According to information from the NG, the procedure followed for SYOP in similar cases is to cut off part of their salary for each day they remain in detention. In case of conviction then he will be fired and put out of the National Guard.

The horrible and nightmarish moments experienced by the 30-year-old Nigerian Victory Osarumen Thompson, who was murdered in the early hours of Sunday (09/11) at the hands of her five compatriots and roommates, were revealed today before the Limassol District Court by the investigative authorities during the request for the renewal of their detention.

The investigators of the TAE Limassol requested the renewal of the detention of the five suspects for another eight days, with the Court approving the request of the Police. What two of the four suspects said in their new investigative testimonies causes chills, with one of them revealing that the victim was begging the 35-year-old to stop beating her. It is also noted that in the area of the apartment, where the 30-year-old was found dead, there were broken objects and a broken broomstick.

In fact, according to the tenants of the apartment building, the beating of the victim lasted two hours, as loud bangs were heard, as if someone was throwing objects on the floor and noises like a ball hitting a table. A woman was also heard talking and shouting, and a man speaking in a low voice.

According to the examiner of the case, from the examinations so far, it has been found that according to the nurse who first visited the scene, the victim was found between the kitchen and the toilet, naked and in a position on her back. The nurse also noted that there was undue clutter in the area, damage from broken objects and a broken broomstick.

The investigators of the TAE Limassol proceeded to examine the club where the suspects had had fun and, according to the information, it had been used by certain compatriots to throw a party. Efforts are being made to locate the specific individuals.

It should be noted that, according to the testimony of the owner of the house in Agios Athanasios, where a witness in the case lives, the three suspects occasionally live in the house. He said that initially the rental contract was made to a man of African descent, but then one of the suspects took over the rent.

In the investigative testimony of the 3rd suspect, she stated that she saw the 1st suspect holding the victim and the 35-year-old standing next to her holding a broomstick and hitting it with a lot of violence. The victim begged the 35-year-old to stop. When the victim got up, the 1st and 2nd suspects pushed her into the bedroom of the 35-year-old (2nd suspect). He then saw the 1st suspect holding her and the 2nd hitting her on the head, body and everywhere.

The victim was on the floor of the room and begged to stop, while the 1st suspect was on top of her. According to the 3rd suspect, she went to the bedside, pushed the 2nd suspect away and saw the victim trying to cut her hands with a broken mirror. He claimed that he tried to grab her hands to stop her, but was unsuccessful. The victim tried to bite her and she told suspects 1 and 2 to stop, before going to the couch and sleeping. Regarding prostitution, she said that she had an account on a website in Cyprus, which she did on her own for the needs of her family.

In another testimony, the 1st suspect stated that she started cleaning the apartment because they would have problems with the owner and no one was helping her. He also said that the 31-year-old and the 30-year-old, when they left the apartment, left the victim still alive. Everyone understood that the situation was getting out of control, but no one said to call the Police.

For the 35-year-old, he said that he used both poles, saying that when one broke, he went and took the other. Everything was done in the bedroom next to the dining room. With the poles, he hit the victim all over the body. He also claimed that he did not know why the 35-year-old was so angry, but the victim allegedly threw objects on the floor and bit her. The victim and the 35-year-old threw various objects at each other, such as drawers and lamps.

She claimed that during the fight she slapped the victim on the cheek, since she was out of control. She carried the victim from the bathroom to the living room, claiming that she was wet. She was at a distance of one to two meters from the victim at the time of the fight, but was bleeding on her arm, chest and finger. It should be noted that the five suspects were examined by government psychiatrists. Another 41 testimonies are expected to be taken for the case, while various closed circuit surveillance have been received, which are being evaluated.
