BRITAIN FORGETS ITS ROLE AND INTERESTS

 The position of F - 2 November 2025

OCCUPYING Turkey and the United Kingdom signed a $10.74 billion agreement last Monday for the supply of 20 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. Turkey has paid and will receive these fighters, plus 24 from Qatar and Oman.

IT IS an agreement of strategic and economic importance, made with the support of Berlin, Madrid and Rome, which participate in the European consortium.

The agreement was signed in Ankara by the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer and the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Turkish President described it as "a symbol of a strategic relationship between two close allies". London is obviously satisfied with this development, as among other things, the economic parameter is important. But geopolitics is also much more important.

TURKEY is significantly strengthened in the region with the help of Britain. Britain is further strengthening its relations with Turkey on another basis. Since its withdrawal from the European Union, Britain has turned and further strengthened relations with the occupying power. And we also reached last Monday's agreement.

OBVIOUSLY, we could not prevent this development, which had been underway since last summer. There was no possibility. But that doesn't mean it doesn't bother us. Very much.

And this is because it affects Cyprus, as well as Greece. Obviously, without the sale of the Eurofighter Typhoon, Turkey would have a clear superiority over Cyprus. But what does this mean? That because the occupying power prevails anyway, we will not react and will not be bothered by any further armament reinforcement?

BRITAIN, which is also a so-called guarantor power in the Republic of Cyprus, cannot arm the occupying power. What happened is recorded and is considered a hostile action. This is what we are opposed to.

It is well known that Britain has interests in Cyprus and should normally seek to have good relations with the Republic of Cyprus and its people. This is how it secures its interests on the island.

THIS does not need any analysis to be understood. It's simple logic. And it is also confirmed by the attitude of Cypriot society and how the British moves to strengthen the occupying Turkey are being dealt with.
