The suspension of Athena Demetriou, former deputy director of the Central Prisons, who currently serves in the Audit Office, was requested on Tuesday by the Audit Office.
Ms. Demetriou is included in the indictment of the case of the secret documents of the Central Prisons that were located in the house of a chief guard as part of an investigation into another case. Criminal charges were registered by the Legal Service for the case, against a total of 8 persons, including the former director, Anna Aristotelous.
Answering a question, the Spokesperson of the Audit Office, Marios Petridis, stated that "we have sent a letter today to the EDY requesting her suspension". He noted that in case Ms. Demetriou is suspended, she will remain until the completion of the decision.
Mr. Petrides clarified that, according to the legislation, the decision to suspend or not Ms. Demetriou belongs to the EDY.
