The area where the municipal slaughterhouse of Paphos operated, in the area of Koloni, and which was a source of pollution for years, is being cleaned by decision of the municipality of Paphos that will turn it into a nursery and warehouse for the storage of its machinery.
In this area, after the closure of the municipal slaughterhouse of Paphos almost two decades ago, the municipal services piled up pruning, rubble, car tires, essentially turning the area into a garbage dump. The old facilities had not been used for years by the local authority. In the first stage, this huge space will be cleaned, the recyclable materials will be removed and transferred to licensed units, while those premises deemed unsuitable will be demolished.
The local authority plans to upgrade the municipal nursery in the outdoor area for the production of flowers and trees for the needs of the parks and green spaces of the municipality.
The vehicles of the municipal fleet that are currently parked in the area of the former municipal market, next to the industrial area of Paphos, are expected to be transferred to the same area.
