The participatory workshop "Pame Amargeti: A Culture and Sustainability Lab" took place on Sunday in Amargeti, Paphos, as part of the Community Festival.

The participatory workshop included workshops on innovative, applied, participatory research methodologies aimed at identifying the gaps and needs that hinder the mobilization of cultural and creative sector actors towards the green transition, as well as education on the impacts of climate change and how to address them.

Artists, creators, representatives of environmental organizations and young professionals from the cultural and creative sector from all over Cyprus, collaborated to co-create solutions that enhance the sustainable development and resilience of the cultural and creative sector against the climate crisis.

In addition, the participants toured local producers and small businesses, to get to know applied sustainability and circular economy practices to combat the climate crisis through the empowerment of local production. The program closed with the screening of films by Efi Spyrou.

The President of the Board of Directors of the Center for Studies and Research, Akti, Dr. Xenia Loizidou, stated that culture and sustainability go together. Climate chaos and environmental degradation can only be addressed through partnerships and innovation and by recognizing local communities as the core of sustainability, he stressed.

The event was held under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr. Vasiliki Kassianidou and was implemented in collaboration with Technopolis 20, the Dance House of Nicosia, and the Amargeti Community Council.
